Got to see the second part of the game last night. Another game where guys struggled but the team was able to pull out a win. Key hitting and timely pitching is the way to win in Oakland.
This road trip has been great thus far and, as far as I'm concerned, winning either of these last two games will be gravy. Obviously, I'd like to win them but 6 wins is pretty darn good. Frankly, I think we'll win one of these last two.
Go Tribe!

Ubaldo once again didn't look super sharp but pitched well enough to get the W. Fine by me.

His quote after the game brought the lulz
"That's uncharacteristic for me," Godfrey said. "I'm a control guy. That might be the most I've ever walked in a game."

It's good that he fights through it and keeps the team in the game.lhslep134;1149452 wrote:Ubaldo once again didn't look super sharp but pitched well enough to get the W. Fine by me.

J Gomes walked. | 3 | 1 |
K Ka'aihue lined into double play, to first, J Gomes doubled off first. | 3 | 1 |
A Recker singled to right. | 3 | 1 |
E Sogard walked, A Recker to second. | 3 | 1 |
J Weeks flied out to left. |
This is how Ubaldo fights through it. Way to fight through it Ubaldo. The line drive double play was a bullet heading for the corner. All this...vs, a team that had a 200 team batting average.
Had to LOL at Manning's utter exasperation with Ubaldo's pitching last night.
Right now, the tribe bullpen and Jack Hannehan's clutch hitting has carried the load. The last 3 W's coming by one run.
I could be wrong, but I think Jeanmar throws a gem tonight. He was awesome last September and almost unhittable this spring.
If things fall right, the tribe could find themselves in first place all alone after tonight's games.
Go tribe!!

A promising second inning ends quickly....first two on and Donald bunts into a force at third. Brantly taps to pitcher and Kipnis grounds out.

For as good as the offense has been, when is Choo's bat going to come alive?
He was essentially about a career .300 hitter up until last years disaster. He is starting off this year much the same being around .240.
When is he going to revert to his prior form because it would be a huge shot in the arm to an offense that is already starting to roll a bit.

Tigers hold off Texas....so first place will have to wait.
Great job by my man Jeanmar. Looks like I was right.

Just got home. Got to listen to Hammy on the radio so all was good. More timely hitting and decent pitching. Nice to see Kipnis finally get some balls to fall. Sipp with a much needed 1-2-3 inning.
Let's finish this one. Go Tribe

Going to the 9th.....Asencio on to pitch....
After getting the first out, and having Gomes down 0-2...Asencio gives up the single and then a double to Barton.
...he gets Suzuki swinging.....and with two out...on comes "Rage"
...fly out to Brantley...BALL GAME!

I realize that the A's and Mariners aren't World Series favorites, but it is encouraging to see another April slide by without the huge hole being dug by the Tribe. They're leaving that nasty job for the Angels and Red Sox, and I couldn't be happier.

once it became a "save" situation (tying run in the on-deck circle), out came rage. it was kind of weird to not see perez in the ninth at first (then i realized if you can avoid the closer in three straight games, do it). very impressive road trip so farHitsRus;1149741 wrote:Going to the 9th.....Asencio on to pitch....

Agreed. It kills me when people say these games don't matter. Every game matters. The season is just long enough that it gives you time to get it corrected, however, it's much easier to stay the course after a good finish.stlouiedipalma;1149806 wrote:I realize that the A's and Mariners aren't World Series favorites, but it is encouraging to see another April slide by without the huge hole being dug by the Tribe. Hopefully this team is a legit playoff contender. Should be exciting with the extra wild car spot.
