That's a possibility that any agnostic atheist (most atheists) will admit. However that still wouldn't provide validity to the claims of the Bible or any other religious book. Because even if we say "sure, god could have created the big bang" if it's the Christian god we're talking about he's still an immeasurable asshole for knowing about and being capable of stopping all suffering yet not.rmolin73;1160851 wrote:

I do agree belief is primarily for comfort. It makes things easier when an all powerful god is in control when life sucks and that if you follow these arbitrary rules, once your shitty life is over, you will go to heaven and bang 40 virgins a day.

I think the point you and Skyhook are getting at is that it isn't the "gayness" per se, but actually completing the sexual acts that creates the problem? For example, you could be "gay" and God is fine with it, until you start banging dudes.
