All I'm saying, is that with all the kids that Ursuline and Mooney bring in, 99.9% of them are good kids, and the two schools have a history of bringing in high character kids. This just proves that even the schools that bring in large quantities of kids are going to miss one or two here and there and bring in a kid who's character isn't up to par on what they are accustomed to bringing in....That's all. It's not a slam on Ursuline or Mooney for that matter, they have GREAT track records of bringing in high quality kids....Kudos to them. I would even go as far as to say that the time the kids spend at the two schools once they're brought in, makes them even higher quality human beings in the long run.[/QUOTE Very well put and crafty I will say:laugh::rolleyes:

I would say gateway was pretty good that season. http://www.maxpreps.com/high-schools/gateway-gators-(monroeville,pa)/football-fall-07/schedule.htm Only team that handled them was Cardinal Mooney.

Present football Ursuline wins by 3 scores every time they play. "The Quip" in the past though.

gateway is always seems to struggle in their opener. i think they have only won the wpial once since 1986. they do normally have a lot of talent.Ohio;1233686 wrote:I would say gateway was pretty good that season. http://www.maxpreps.com/high-schools/gateway-gators-(monroeville,pa)/football-fall-07/schedule.htm Only team that handled them was Cardinal Mooney.

I'm from Aliquippa and googled for our 2012 football prognosis and found this thread! Interesting and yes, things have gotten tough here but the passion and love for the football program remains. Some facts I thought I would point out because people seem interested. The past NFL players from Aliquippa were Mike Ditka, Sean Gilbert, Ty Law, Charles Fisher (who had his career end due to a bad knee injury after being the first pick in the 2nd round by the Bengals in the mid 90's). Current players in the NFL include, of course... Darrelle Revis of the Jets, Tommie Campbell of the Titans, and Jon Baldwin of the Chiefs. Brandon Lindsey was just waived by the Steelers and they say he may need shoulder surgery. Former players and current players in the NFL with strong ties to the Aliquippa area are Tony Dorsett who grew up in the Mt. Vernon section of Plan 11 of Aliquippa but attended Hopewell High School when the government enacted forced busing for desegregation purposes when Hopewell was a mostly white school district. Tony used to joke that people who lived on the first floor of his building went to Aliquippa and those on the second floor went to Hopewell. Dan Raines who has a Super Bowl ring with the Bears also attended Hopewell High School. Paul Posluszny who also attended Hopewell High School from the Aliquippa area currently is with the Jacksonville Jaguars. FYI - Pistol Pete Maravish was from Aliquippa and his father Press Maravich began his coaching career as the high school head coach at Aliquippa. Press grew up in the Logstown (Plan 2) section of Aliquippa which no longer exists. If you ever pass through Aliquippa, where the Aliquippa Water Authority is currently located, is where Press grew up as a kid. Pistol's mother Helen who passed, sadly from suicide in the 1970's, her burial place is off of Brodhead Road in Aliquippa/Hopewell. It was one of the last times Pistol and Press were in Aliquippa and it was definitely a sad occassion. Hope you guys found this interesting. By the way, the next big stars from the area are currently at Pitt from the Aliquippa area. Runningback Rushel Shell who went to Hopewell and offensive lineman Juantez Hollins who went to Aliquippa. Good Luck on the upcoming football season.

I would be interested in chatting. My family is from that area. My parents went to Hopewell and my grandparents went to Aliquippa. I also have a bunch of cousins that went to both. My grandfather lived in plan 12 and then they moved to Marrata Rd area in Hopewell in the early 50's. Used to be a great area. Hard times have fallen on Aliquippa for sure.Qu1ps;1249647 wrote:I'm from Aliquippa and googled for our 2012 football prognosis and found this thread!
