Nothing like a thread about the black vote to get you righties all worked up. I've yet to see one intelligent post explaining why Obama won't get a huge percentage of the black vote or, for that matter, what Republicans have done to attract the black vote.

The Republicans' answer to countering Obama's appeal to blacks is voter ID laws, brought on by the lie that voter fraud is rampant, but really a thinly veiled disguise for voter suppression. The R's have always been all about voter supression. They can't beat 'em, so they'll disqualify 'em. Isn't that how it works?

The correct percentage based on my income. Most of the families who lost members fighting to protect our nation paid less than $50,000 dollars in taxes. In your view that makes them lesser Americans than you.

I don't sympathize with either side. If someone spends more than their means allow, they made a poor choice. We all dream of certain material things, but we have to have enough discipline to live within our means. I believe that someone should be smart enough to make that decision. You believe that people are too stupid to manage their own money. Just because you are too stupid to manage money, it doesn't mean that everyone is.

We could have foreclosed on our primary home, declared bankruptcy and become a burden of the State, instead we were forward thinking and relied on ourselves instead of the welfare state. For someone who enjoys ex-pat status, owns two homes in the US and paid $50,000 in taxes, your claim of the economy being killed rings a little hollow. Sounds like you're making quite a bit while out of the country. Sounds like you and Mitt have more in common than most.

By attacking them you have given support for the big banking institutions that have used and abused them. If you do not believe that those institutions with their resources and greed can provide glittering offers that can trick average working people into bad investments then you either blind or supportive of these blood sucking financial institutions.

And we work hard. I traveled OOC (out of country, as opposed to out of conference) 76 days in '11, my wife - 205. That's correct, 205. She spent more time out of country than at home.

A choice? Sure, but not much of one. What else are we going to do? Her company (UK based) more or less mandates an international move to continue advancing for promotions - my industry (legal) absolutely imploded in the Obamaconomy, unless someone is working in bankruptcy or (as I like to call it) hail mary plaintiff's work, the industry has taken a hit with the sour economy. My old place once hired 40 people a year, now it is down to 4.

I'd love to see the U.S. turn it around, but ridiculously biased media reports and a Chief Executive Officer with practically zero experience isn't fanning my flames. The economy sucks, and what's worse is there isn't a timeline in sight for a real recovery. Expanding government while going into more debt isn't a solution, IMO.

I am a democrat, but that doesn't mean I don't think people shouldn't have a basic education before buying a home. You are basically saying that it is the banks fault that someone can't do middle school math to figure out if they can afford a home. Most people can do the math, but they live in an entitlement society and feel that everything should be given to them. It really isn't that hard. If your take home pay is $2,000/month, you shouldn't sign a mortgage for more than around $600/month. If you can't afford that, you simply don't take the mortgage. I would love to have a million dollar house, but I know that I can't afford that. It isn't the fault of the government or the banks or anyone else that I can't afford, it is just an economic reality.

I know you've spoken before about your situation, and I sympathize with the choices you've had to make. I spent the better part of half of my last two years at work (before I retired) OOC. I didn't qualify for ex-pat status, but I worked with several who did and they made out like bandits.

As for "zero experience", I don't believe that any candidate for President has the requisite experience to prepare him for the position. To use that tag against Obama is ludicrous at best. Running a business is nothing remotely close to running a government.

I also believe that the economy is improving. We were so close to the abyss in 2008 it isn't funny. Putting the party responsible back in charge is not an option for me.
