I can't even count how many people on Twitter have said that Sandra Fluke is a hero. This is what our country has become?

The left put a huge hook out there, and the Right wing media allowed themselves to get pulled in.

This Sandra Fluke is a total ringer. She is no 23 year old doe eyed college coed as she has been portrayed, but a 30 year old avowed hardcore leftist who was once head of the reproductive justice league and has worked with NOW (National Organization of Women).

She was up there at the behest of Nancy Pelosi to promote left win causes. Rush and other Republican commentators though just couldn't help themselves, and turned a hardcore feminazi into a modern day Joan of Arc because they couldn't just ignore her and move on.

This is all part of a concerted plan by the left to keep all the focus away from the economy/gas prices and other Obama failures and on issues that make the right wing look like whackos.

You just can't allow yourself to get hooked like that. Can't do it, as it is playing right into Barry's playbook.

The point some of us are trying to make is that if your health care provider doesn't cover a particular medication, you pay full price for it. Believe me, I'm damned happy that I only have to pay $10 or $20 for prescription medication that is covered under my plan. Without that, I would be in hock. And, yes, when I switched to Wal Mart last month my one-month supply of 40mg Lipitor (generic) would have been $159 without health insurance. Do the math. There are folks out there who don't have "cadillac" coverage and it's easy to see how they can rack up big-time debt just to keep up with their medications.


Rush has now lost seven sponsors. He can talk all he wants about his massive audience, but without the sponsors' dollars he knows he won't be on very much longer. That's why he issued his "apology". It wasn't because he suddenly saw the light. It was a financial decision, pure and simple.

Liptor =/= Birth Control pills. Retail price on them is no more than $50 monthly, and often as low as $20-25.

The line of potential sponsors for Rush is long...the ones who left will be quickly replaced. I guarantee there won't be any dead air during the commercial breaks.

What price is that? A few bucks at Kroger or Wal-mart. This isn't Lipitor, its a contraceptive that's been available for decades. Why is the government involved in this? Why do you think the government should be involved in this?

I'll tell you why I think the government shouldn't be involved in this, from a Liberal perspective. A condom or birth control pill is useless unless it is used correctly and responsibly. Ms. Fluke can buy (or in her mind, use other taxpayers' money to buy) as many condoms as she wants in a year but if she doesn't use them it is a sunk cost. To the extent that birth control is taxpayer funded, the government, and ergo the taxpayers have an interest in that it is being used correctly. Thus we have an interest in what happens in the bedroom, the exact opposite stance that the Liberals argued with respect to abortion.

If Rush Limbaugh doesn't want 4 more years of BHO he needs to give a good apology on air today and make this go away.

$4 dollar gas, a sluggish recovery, we are hearing about none of it because this (and the whole birth control debate itself) is sucking all the air out of the room.

While Conservative commentators are wasting time on shit like this BHO's approval ratings are improving, and he is flying under the radar while the right is looking radicalized and out of touch.

I don't think he really has that kind of impact. His loyal, die-hard listeners are too ignorant to be swayed by anything, and most others view him as nothing more than a shock politico. I think it's a liberal pipe dream that making this all about Rush is going to somehow significantly impact the election in any meaningful way. It won't. Like I said, they keep trying to paint him as a leader of the Republican party so they can have someone to villify, but I don't see it. I think most independents are bright enough to see all this (and Rush) for what it is.

The left stream media will put the focus on anything they want; it has nothing to do with Rush, or Ryan, or Palin, or anyone that can be construed controversial. They simply will shift the focus whenever they want in order to run interference for obama; plain and simple. An apology from Rush is not the answer, and never will be; the state-run media will only contrive something else.

BTW, I am not paying for the younger generations sexual appetites; and Kathleen Sebelius can go fu#$ herself.

Bottom line is if my employer choses to offer health insurance as a benefit, I should be able to pick and choose what coverage I want and need. If it cost more I see no reason I would not pay for it. From what I understand by talking to people I know in the insurance industry, contraceptives use actually reduce the cost of insurance.

Like I said before, my wife worked in a Catholic hospital where contraceptives were not covered, but viraga was even if there was no documented health needs. Why should my wife have to pay for someone else’s elective boner? It’s the same logic used here by a lot of our misguided friends on here, but they have their head so far up Rush's ass, it's beyond reason.

Defending Rush only makes one look like an asshole (not saying you were defending him but just in general).

The focus should be on everything that adds up to our spending problem as well as the trampling of the constitution. Drug law reform, SS/Medicare/Medicaid Reform, taking practical steps to lessen the burden on the welfare system (job training, etc, there has to be a way to provide assistance that isn't simply "here's some money"), lessen defense spending, etc, etc.

As for the Obamacare thing, is it a perfect or even particularly good solution? Likely not. But acting like what we had before was better/ideal is ridiculous.


Edit: What I mean by that is we've had health care costs which were rapidly growing far before Obamacare so pointing at your rising health care costs and saying "SEE WHAT OBAMACARE DOES!!!!!" doesn't really show Obamacare to be the cause. Again, it could be causing an increase but simply showing that there has been doesn't mean that because we've had massive increases for a long, long time now.
