I'm not sure how I would react if that were my 18 year old daughter. Part of me thinks they would have a pack of dogs looking through the local fields for his shallow grave. Part of me says she is old enough to make her own stupid decisions.

I wanted to post something similar. But there is definitely a double standard when it comes to male vs. female teachers.

How can I give them infractions if they aren't posting here? Besides, I praise all teachers for hooking up with students, so it'd be reps or males and females. Duh...

But seriously, both instances are equally as bad. How bad is it? I think that depends on a persons morality. Some people are ok as long as it is 2 consenting adults, others dislike the whole situation because of the power disparity.

But to differentiate the punishment/outrage because of the sex difference is wrong.

Sure it is plausible. But that's your morality (that it is okay if the student consents). However, there are people that believe it is wrong no matter what. Teaches are in a big power position in relation to students in a sexual manner is in appropriate as a result of it.

I already accounted for your response so I'm not sure why you responded in the way you did. As I said previously, it depends on a persons morality.
