I'm not too worried about it, but just in case, any ideas on things we can do to keep membership and activity up over here? I am open to any and all ideas.

Addition by subtraction? As much as people thought JJ was a police state, the place thrived until their decision to go to a paysite. It's unfortunate, that new people come to browse and see a bunch of posts about child molestation, and dick size. I don't mind the cussing at all, but the personal attacks are way over the top anymore.
Also, gotta find a niche. Find one primary idea to build off of. Obviously it needs to be Ohio-centric. Maybe like a What's Happening Ohio type thing, where people can add/find different events/festivities going on around the state?

I think we need to get back into blogging, but it needs to be Ohio based. Ohio sports blogging. Ohio outdoors blogging, etc.
I think we need a few more subforums.
Outdoors
recipes (this one actually thrives on a ton of forums believe it or not)
I am open for opening up the Poli forum a bit, maybe split it into national and local
Also the posibility of regional sub forums. Even though they may be mostly dead, the topics in them will bring in people just from searches. (say I make a post about the Canal Winchester Rib fest, someone googling that would see all te info listed and maybe 1 or 2 posts about experiences there)

The approving threads, it's so dead in there. The last 2 new threads were Goon saying "fuck the approval" and footwedge just posting a video.justincredible;1099270 wrote:What are you open to loosening in the poli forum?
I may just start by going in ans starting a ton of threads myself

There is no longer approval needed to start a thread. Feel free to make an announcement.

I don't know if you can fix that there are 3 ultra cobservatives that derail every thread over there, even their own ones.
We need to make a harder push on the blogging, as it obviously has been a failure thus far. I'd say we all lead by example and do it some, but I have no idea what I'd ever write.
And seriously, reset the vBookie points. People like it, but lotz has held off because after the Super Bowl was over that was the end of the betting period, which has meant a point reset in the past, thus nothing to bet on in the past 3 weeks. You may need more bookies (1-2) too.

vcash is reset. I agree about the blogging, it has sucked so far, but could be a great feature if actually used. I'll blog about the Reds.
Anyone want to take on the Indians? Maybe some March Madness action and the NFL draft stuff.

Also, continue to poke around on the new forum site (http://test.ohiochatter.com) and let me know of issues you find. You should be able to login with your current stuff. I'd like to have that active soon. Gives me a lot more freedom for new features.

Blogging could be good, but most people skip the home page where the blogs are.

I could probably do a "rant" blog.

If I blog on the Pirates, by mid-May, it likely will give you another "rant" blog.

Is it worth trying again this fall regarding a HS scoreboard? Or are we just saying fuck it after 2 years of mild failure there.

I'll try it again. I need to get it working to pull in scores from twitter. If I get that working it should be a little easier to update.

Maybe we can make that the "theme". You know since so much of the site is lighthearted (no serious business bitches). That is something we should all contribute to. That way we can all take like a week to write and come up with the blog, but if 5 or 6 of us contribute, thats a new post almost every day.justincredible;1099459 wrote:Road construction, weather, etc.

Good point. Having a "staff blog" that is updated regularly would be good.
