I got a good laugh out of both Tannehill and Chad Johnson's situations.

The ocho thing is pretty funny... the Tannehill is just bad I don't get how you don't know that stuff.

Does anyone know what the refs want? Is it more pay or better benefits?

My understanding is that they want a pension while the NFL is offering a 401k situation. IF this is the case, FUCK the refs. Find me a SECOND job in the United States that only has to work 25-30 days per year AND gets a pension? No disrespect to the resident referee/official on here but the NFL needs to draw a line in the sand on this.bigdaddy2003;1257498 wrote:Does anyone know what the refs want? Just heard on Mike & Mike that they make 140k a season...and they're asking for 185k+. So a raise of almost 40k, or almost 30%.
Fuck that

Honestly unless all this is going to cost a ridiculous amount of money they should just cave. The nfl NEEDS these refs badly.BR1986FB;1257588 wrote:My understanding is that they want a pension while the NFL is offering a 401k situation. IF this is the case, FUCK the refs. Hey S&L...where can we sign up for a gig working 25-30 days a year for $140k? Right?SportsAndLady;1257609 wrote:Just heard on Mike & Mike that they make 140k a season...and they're asking for 185k+. So a raise of almost 40k, or almost 30%.

I would gladly get paid 140k to travel to numerous cities for 17 sundays and officiate the highest level of football.

The biggest problem I have with it, is they are not in a position to get hurt. They're not out there getting concussion after concussion. They're actually getting healthier (exercising) working their job.like_that;1257621 wrote:After seeing how much they make, fuck them.

And I heard they were claiming there's a danger factor to being an NFL ref...yeah, you might get run over by an NFL player once in your career...you might tear something in your knee. But if tha'ts the only danger to making 140k a year for about 100 hours of work, bring on Ray Lewis........uhhh, nevermind not Ray Lewis, I don't want to get shanked.

Oh I agree with you. It's fucking crazy that they want more money, benefits, etc. I just think these replacement refs are going to seriously hurt the game.like_that;1257621 wrote:After seeing how much they make, fuck them.

I agree w nfl on this one surprisingly but as soon as it costs your team a game or messes up the playoffs for someone a lot of people are going to change their stance. it is just a matter of time imo and i hope its not my team

The referees are counting on there being a blown call which will force Goodell's hand, and the league is counting on business as usual to show the ref's they can be replaced.
It is a dangerous game of chicken for both sides, because one of them will end up losing big time most likely.
The pressure will be amped up to 1,000 on the owners if there is a game changing missed or botched call early on as the media will run with it and play it over and over on loop. That is the nightmare scenario for the league.
I am interested to see how this plays out in the coming weeks, as that is a huge leap from High school/D2 officiating to NFL games as far as speed of the game.

And you can bet it's going to happen, in favor of the Steelers giving them a win, in week 1....IggyPride00;1257665 wrote:The referees are counting on there being a blown call which will force Goodell's hand, and the league is counting on business as usual to show the ref's they can be replaced.

Technically its more like 50-60 days a year once you factor in travel and helping offciate preseason practices.BR1986FB;1257616 wrote:Hey S&L...where can we sign up for a gig working 25-30 days a year for $140k? Right?
Your point is still 100% valid, no doubt about it, just want to be more realistic.
It is still a job that is part time, while difficult to hold down a 2nd job during the season due to MNF and Thursday games.

Doesn't the NFL want them to become "full time" and not work any of their other jobs? I thought I read somewhere that that was one of the refs beefs also.
