Where I grew up, there wasn't anything else to do on Friday nights.

I'm IP banned too. Not that I much care. If the core of the serious business group stays, I will stay. I don't care about hs sports in Ohio anymore.

Sounds similar to where I'm from. That's the key, such places are places one should look at fondly as being from, after they've moved on to bigger and better things.

I will go back and forth unless one gets to be real bad. I dont post much but like to read what people have to say. So it wont affect me much.

I hope this helps.

OTOH, a 40 year-old man to whom high school sports are actually the most important thing in his life is creepy. Chris Hansen-level creepy. LJ is right (did I type that?), the other site can have those people.

Fair enough guys. Like I said, probably is directly related to being from a city and having 20 damn schools all over and getting the coverage. Plus the coverage of pro and college before HS every night but Fridays.

I wasnt trying to ruffle feathers, more just curious as to the appeal. Coming from the city, it just appears weird on the outside. Im sure that isnt the case with most.

Laley23;1093567 wrote:Good point. Maybe it was growing up in a city, and not a town with just 1 or 2 HS.

But, college sports are much bigger. They are national and have a much larger fan base. So of course people will care more about them. Because its national, you get banter and such on a much larger scale.
Grew up in a county with 1 school in so I still follow that school. While working where I do, I keep up on HS sports because I see them 4 days out of the week. I guess I would like to keep up on who's good and what game might be a good one. I pay attention to it a little bit outside of work but only through the TB and wouldn't through the Huddle. Trust me from growing up in a tiny county, that there is a HUGE difference in the local support of HS sports than there is a big city such as the one as we live in. A trip to the district finals and regional semis for boys basketball shut the whole county down.

As for going back to a Free JJ Huddle....outside of a trip to Japan(and a cup of coffee w/the Mets, call me Mike Hessman. Career Minor leaguer.

Growing up where you did, you and OSH(only ones I know of who went to a school like mine), can attest to ^ that post. I know going to games of your Alma Mater, it felt the same as going to games of my Alma Mater.

They'll all go back since the rules don't apply to Big Red (or Mooney, but I like their posters anyway) over there. Awesome!

With a couple of exceptions, they wouldn't be missed, at least not by me. With some of them, any negative comment about their city was caused by some game where their team beat your team. They honest to God are so separated from reality that they beleieve all of us live our lives based on the outcome of High School sporting events.

And if that happens, eventually JJ will do the same thing they did before. If anyone goes back they are fools. How long do you think this "FREE" membership will last? How many times did they offer a "FREE" membership and then renig over there? Screw that, I will stay here.

Plus, you get Vcash and rep points here. That place doesn't even give you rep!

Exactly. Their biggest problem is the moderation.

and ironically, the site founder is the biggest problem. If they're serious, his role as an working moderator needs to be eliminated.
