Sounds like Marshall is in line to close.
Here's a good update on a few ST things

You can tell Dusty already has his mind made up about Champan to the pen.

Reds haven't looked too good tonight on MLB network. Helton took Cueto deep a couple times. Rolen has hit the ball hard a couple times.

They lose 7-3. Played earlier. Cueto gave up 3 homers.

Yeah....pay $30 million for them to never trust Chapman....but by God 26 year old Homer has never proven a flippin thing positive and has sucked all spring....let him start.

I hope Bob has a quick leash on Dusty if things don't start out well this year. Last year they had such a slow start with an easy schedule and everyone said it would get better.Ironman92;1127818 wrote:Yeah....pay $30 million for them to never trust Chapman....but by God 26 year old Homer has never proven a flippin thing positive and has sucked all spring....let him start.

Just reading twitter so I don't know....but is Dusty really not going to have Leake in the rotation? Bronson is a no doubted but Leake is iffy to make the 25 man roster?

Hit .328 12 HR 15 SB and 65 RBI in just 67 games in Single A last year. Scouts say potential GG LF of the future. 21 years old

Is this a serious post (serious as in, you actually just thought Hoover was a different player, one that plays in the field, not a starting pitcher?), or one of your weird, retarded, sarcastic posts that no one really understands on here?Ironman92;1133835 wrote:Hit .328 12 HR 15 SB and 65 RBI in just 67 games in Single A last year. Looks like Todd Frazier is a sure-fire lock to make the 25-man. Likely the backup 3B, and while he isn't as good as Francisco, he's certainly earned the spot.

Hoover is 24, put up solid numbers last year between AA and AAA.
Whether or not he's a factor or not, he's a near-ready arm for an organization scrambling to get some bullpen depth to start the year. The Reds really need to hope Masset can come back strong without losing too much time.

The amount of potential Walt has dealt this offseason is alarming. Hope he knows what he's doing. I still don't see how you can trade all these guys and not get a solid #3 starter.

He's got plenty of third starters. Bailey. Leake. Arroyo. Chapman. Volquez, before the trade. You can easily get a veteran "third starter" if you want. Roy Oswalt is out there. Jon Garland is out there. Javier Vazquez, Joel Piniero, etc...

Those are not 3rd starters, at least not on a WS contender. Chapman, maybe. Volquez was packaged for a #2 so that's fine. Garland coming off shoulder surgery will be lucky to be in a rotation, Vazquez will probably only play in Miami if he does at all, Piniero is about like Arroyo. No idea what Oswalt's health is, he's a wildcard.Azubuike24;1134024 wrote:He's got plenty of third starters. Bailey. Leake. Arroyo. Chapman. Volquez, before the trade. I guess I'm more frustrated than most since I go to a lot of Dragons and Bats games so I'm more attached to these guys. I just see that 5 or 6 of their top 10-12 prospects over the last couple years are gone and they still didn't address LF, 3B, SS (although I'm a big Cozart supporter), solidify the rotation, or sign Votto to an extension.

Arroyo is terrible, if anything he should get the boot from the lineup. He gave up 46 homers last season and opponents hit .286 off him. Basically with Arroyo on the mound the other team turns into the AL All-Star team. He actually had a WAR of -1.3:laugh:

Rumors that the Reds and Votto are close on a deal that will keep him in Cincinnati for "a very long time" worth nearly $200 mil.
Read it on the Facebook page of one of the weekend sports anchors at wcpo.

He made comments I think last week that really made me think he wanted to stay. Hope it's true.
