A lot of people think Toronto has/had the best farm system in baseball, and Marisnick, Nicolino, and Hechavarria are their #2, 5, and 8 prospects (by Baseball America).

If the Marlins didn't want this to happen they shouldn't have gone 69-93 last year. If you're going to suck anyway why not save $100 million?

Just imagine how Cleveland would feel if their owners shipped all their good players for a bunch of junk.

We dont have to imagine.

However, if Cleveland got back what Miami did, it would be like striking oil in Rocky River.

Seriously.

We traded back to back Cy Young winners for a pile of steaming dog crap.

I read that part of what made this trade easy for the Marlins is they refuse to give no trade provisions in all contracts, I guess we can see why now.

Something tells me the Dolan's might adopt that philosophy if they haven't already.

I work with Nicolino's uncle and Justin is just absolutely pissed about this deal. Wants nothing to do with the Marlins. Lol

IF those guys pan out to be as good as their prospect rating. I mean, with Cleveland, LaPorta was a really highly-rated prospect, wasn't he? And he's turned out to be shit, making that deal look really horrible in retrospect.

The difference between Cleveland and Miami is that Cleveland gives the pretense of "caring" in that they space out their salary dumps, so they can say it's because they know they can't afford a soon-to-be free agent, but are doing what they can to get value for them. The goons running Miami don't even bother with this. More like, "Okay, we spent a lot of money last year because you guys are footing nearly all the massive bill on our stadium. Things didn't work out, so fuck that and fuck you...BITCHES! We're lining our pockets and that's that."

Miami might have gotten quality guys (for down the road) back, but they've pretty much lost Stanton and probably anyone currently on the team who will have ANY demand for their services from anywhere else when the time comes for them to work on their next contract.

Yes. But also, CC and Lee>>>>>>>>>>> Buehrle, Reyes and Johnson.

I don't disagree. Cleveland had CC and Lee and got junk in return for them; but at least this case was due to CC and Lee being far more expensive than Cleveland was willing to pay.

The Marlins just don't care about winning anymore; they want to save money.

One cannot emphasize how much better CC and Lee are compared to that group.

That is true. Johnson had a chance to be with those two, but injuries really diminished him.

Yeah, and Reyes couldve been special as well. Not to the level of Cy Young pitching, like Johnson mightve, but still much better. Injures have hindered both, and Buehrle is just over the hill.

David Price won the Cy Young with 14 votes, Verlander had 13, Weaver 1. Hope the Rays don't pull an Indians and trade him away. There's been talk of either dealing Price, Shields or Hellickson because the team won't be able to afford all 3 and we obviously need the offense via trade.
