Yeah I've always said he's the best hitter in baseball, to put up those numbers in Comerica is unreal. I mean imagine if the Tigers played in Yankee Stadium or GABP instead? He'd prolly have an average 15 points higher, 8-10 more homers and 10-15 more RBI's

would be tough. I think they have one voter for each AL city and they rank their top 3 choices. 1st place votes are 5 points, 2nd are 3, 3rd are 1.

Eh I dk about his numbers changing that much. Maybe 3-4 hrs the rbis would be about the same and the average actually could be lower in a smaller ball park.

What's happened with McCann? He's been great in the past, so has he just fallen off this year or in recent months? Don't follow Atlanta enough to know.

He's had nagging injuries all year. For the last 3 or so months (maybe longer, I'm not sure when it started bothering him), he's had something going on in his shoulder where it hurts him to swing. He's had a couple of cortisone shots but I don't think there is anything else that can be done besides time off.

edit: quick search says its a frayed labrum and cyst in his right shoulder. First cortisone shot was August 7, second one September 1.

He's been bad all year though so I'm not sure if the shoulder can take all of the blame. He's also put on about 20 pounds from last year it seems and would lose a foot race to Eric Hinske by a lot.

Ah, I see. Kind of a laundry list of things. Hurt shoulder, gotten fat, inferior play. One of those things where you wonder...he's been good for a decent amount of time and it can be tough for most catchers to sustain good play for too long. Guys like Pudge are rare -- seems like catcher is a position where there's a lot of decent platoon guys, but not many who are legit most-day starters.

Like good comfort food, the Braves postseason choke job just feels right. This annual tradition is about as good as the Macys Thanksgiving Parade.

your team indeed turned out to be the LOLmets again. I'm sure that feels right to you as well. I'm sure they'll be really good next year though!

I will sleep well tonight, seeing that the LOLmets had the same number of playoff wins as the Bills, errr Braves.

Nats overcome 7 walks by starter Gio Gonzalez and 10 K's by Adam Wainwright, come back with 2 in the 8th to beat the Cardinals 3-2.

Nats bullpen, the best in the bigs most of the year, comes up big.

Nats win a close, typical small ball, NL game.

O's and Yanks in a rain delay. It is pretty gross here, no sure when they will have first pitch.

Which means the Reds won't be on right away, I assume.

Yeah, if they don't call it.
Although, since TNT is just showing reruns of Law and Order, they may start the Reds there.

I think they did it last year, and they have done it with the NCAA tournament. I highly doubt MLB would not sign a deal without an option to have TNT show games if there is runover.

Ever notice how "pull to a fault" hitters sometimes breakdown and soften their heads in the playoffs and go the other way. That is how the Nats won this game. I always go back to thinking how Johnny Bench did that and HR'd to RF off closer Dave Giusti to rescue the pennant for the Reds from the grasp of the Pirates. I've always thought, why don't they be better hitters all career long!

The regular season was very good this year, but the playoff games have been boring so far. It is early in the post season, so hoping it gets a lot better.

If it's like most MLB related things, as long as the Yankees are on air neither the league or networks give a shit about any of the rest.

But yes, they did move the Reds to TNT to avoid having to touch the almighty Yankees.

lol, no matter what they were going to stick with the earlier game. The later game was going to move to TNT. Once the earlier game is over, the later game will move to TBS. It has nothing to do with the Yanks.

Camden Yards is still one of the great places to see a game. It's been a bad place for the last decade, but it's nice to see it back tonight.

Massive "Yankees suck" chant off and on all night.

Love it. I always love going to games there. It is a great place, and great to see the O's fans finally come out.
Great game too. Each team has had several chances.

Only 5 total innings combined for the starting pitchers in the cards-nats game. Crazyness.
