While Sullinger's ability to defend on the perimeter may be on par with many big men, it certainly isn't on par with all big men. He is somewhat cumbersome and his defensive stance is too upright to defend on the perimeter. Perhaps, Matta should have tried a zone in order to protect Sullinger.
I don't disagree. But its not often the other team throws out a small lineup. And as I said, on the other end, thats right when Sully went to work and scored. Painter had nothing to lose and had to try something. A zone? Well, seeing as though OSU hasn't played one in over two years, thats highly doubtful. When they played a lot of zone, people were begging for MM. UP until this game, OSU had been playing stellar defense. There is no excuse for last nite defensively. They were poor overall, no question. But I am confident they will be ready to roll. As I mentioned earlier, this game, sandwhiched between Wisky and MSU was a concern. Just lucky it was at home.

But in the big picture, this game may help them. OSU hasn't had too many close games. Learning how to play in a close game means something. Positives on last nite, Thompson, Ravenal and Scott played quality minutes, and made plays in a close game. Ravenal had a HUGE tip in.
Now, we just have to PRAY Sully is healthy for MSU.
