And then at the end of OT, why in the world didn't the coach want the ball passed in to Ketler? Or get Metzger posting up on that side. Two blown opportunities to win the game. What a game! Just wish I felt that the game was decided by the girls play, not buy the coach's poor decisions.
i agree 100% they couldn't stop metzger !!!

I think the reason they didn't pass it into the post in overtime was they wanted the last shot without Orrville having a chance to score. It didn't work due to the turnover. No explanation for regulation time not going there, but sometimes the players don't do what the coach wants, so lets not blame it on her without knowing what was called.

Congrats to Smithville winning the DIII district. Played a great 3rd quarter when they hit 5-6 3's and scored 27 pts. and then handled the ball. Made 27-35 foul shots. Mckelly was the one who killed us with 17 pts.

How classy of Alberts to blame his loss on the refs.

No blaming the refs mentioned, just noted the discrepancy in calls from the 1st half to the 2nd half, and there were 35 fouls shots taken to 17 fouls shots taken.

 Good play....I would have never imagined Smithville or Orrville people complaining about officiating!

"The refs called it a little differently in the second half," Alberts said. "Smithville was doubling on Hannah (Plybon) and made sure she was going to pay to go to the paint. Some times it got called and some times it didn't."

That sounds like blame to me. Maybe Orrville play more aggressive in the 2nd half, Maybe the started to play defense with their hands and not moving their feet, maybe in the 4th quarter when they were only down by 10, the fouled to purposely send smithville to the line. Wasn't there, so I have no clue.

We fouled, we were behind, Smithville made them. The definition of a foul changed at half time. But that wasn't the difference: better defense and better outside shooting was.

I was able to get to this game. First, let me say (at least on this day) the better team won. I do not believe that a team should be aple to elbow, push, knock off balance and hold a player when cutting through the middle or anywhere else. I felt that Orrville's #22 had that happen to her. I certainly would blame the opposing team if the officials allow this to go on. I have felt this happened all year to the "go to" players on many teams (both girls and boys). I (don't know) but was told this was supposed to be a point of emphasis for the officials this year. My question would be this: How many fouls did you see called during the course of the year AWAY from the ball.

Opps. I meant to say I would NOT blame the opposing team if the officials allow this to go on.

District winner Smithville picked up 2 wins at the Cuy Falls regional and moves on to the Final Four at 26-0. Coming into today it was the #2 Smithies and #1 Anna 25-0 as the only DIII teams still undefeated. Congrats Smithies.

DIII final four is now set.

Thur.3/15 6:30
#3 Smithville (26-0)
#10 Africentric (21-4)

Thur. 3/15 8:30
#7 Liberty Benton (23-2)
#1 Anna (26-0)

DIII State Championship Final Sat.3/17 2pm

So we could see #1 vs #2, both at 27-0 in the finals. The only other remaining undefeated team is DI Reynoldsburg (26-0) who plays #2 Twinsburg (23-3) in the DI semifinals.

Locals DI#16 Wadsworth (22-4) lost their regional final. DII West Holmes (23-3) won thier region and is in the final four. DIV Hiland (17-8) plays Windham (17-7) at Perry in their regional final tonight.
