You are right she tried to change a lot of things here for the better and she did, she got the whole system to use the general as there mascot, got more community involvment than most people are aware of, some people just didnt like hearing the truth and the fact that she was from orrville didnt help, as for one i appreciated the fact that she tried to change the attitude around here but one person can only do so much. As i have said before on here the people at the school systems can only do so much this change in attitude has to start at home not at the highschool level by then it is almost to late.

I do understand the history of the former coach, unfortunately he never left the mindset of a 1990's head coach. His complacency led to contempt. I said a couple of years ago on one of these threads, you have two varsity sports that generate revenue for the athletic department you have to put as many butts in the seats as possible at those two events. People were jaded with the former program because it had become stagnant and the kids were uninspired to play under the former coach.

You (scarface) should be seeing and sensing a renewed sense of pride and excitement for and from the program, if you are in any in touch with the kids/parents/community.

I agree there is a new excitement for the program and I am very much in touch with the community and parents involved with the program. Just hope more people stick with it even when times are down like in other communities

Let's also not forget that Wooster wouldn't have made the playoffs either of those years had they not expanded to 8 teams in each region. If you're comparing McCreary to McFarland...please don't.

Rolly, saw your post on the Orrville thread about turf in Wooster. The school system can't do it with a good conscience because money is tight everywhere. Wooster can do it just like we did and all it takes is a group of people to say we're going to go after this. You have someone over there who is willing to give you $100,000 to name the field. Serpentini is a genius- do you know how many times his name is going to be said in the Fall season for the NEXT TEN YEARS. Have you seen the stadium wrap we did with his name on it. Yea, football isn't as popular over there as here, but you have more industry that would support this than we do. All it takes is a group that ignores the naysayers and gets the first few commitments. Don't put it in a committee and discuss it (that doesn't work). Get a group of committed individuals and explore the possibilities and ask for a lead donor then build off that.

All it takes is a group with the right connections. Start with a core of businesses & alums that either have supported these efforts in the past, or you think would support this effort.

Break off into committees (football, alumni, businesses) while keeping everyone informed and on the same page, giving out the same info. Go public when you've got a naming rights sponsor and/or 50% of the funds raised...that tells the public you're serious.

This is all good information. I hope Wooster can make this happen. More turf fields in the area mean possibly closer playoff games.

The scrimmage went well for Wooster need to get a little more production from offense. The defense looks much better, and better tackling this year cuyahoga falls scored one td and one field goal wooster had one missed field goal and scored on one long pass. Daugherty looked good at times but is young and turned it over once. Overall though, much more agressive and they have really improved the attitudes so far this year. cuyahoga falls scored field goal on last play of game. Main thing no big plays against defense, Cuyahoga Falls had to earn everything they got and they have a couple good athletes on thier team.

although i want wooster to win that game dont underestimate how a winning tradition can over come a down year at orrville. They will bring thier A game that night. Good luck to Orrville until week 10

I understand Garfield is very low on numbers but has good athletes, probably a few big play makers I think Wooster is hoping to wear them down physically in the second half.

Our "marginal" talent would pass for an above average squad at every other school in the county. That's the standard we've set in Orrville.

Love it when local fanbases always hurry to paint Orrville as "down," but then are at our games in week 11.

Are you saying you'd rather them not come and support the Riders in Week 11 then?
