I am in search of relocating for the summer...somewhere preferably near a body of water, not necessarily a beach, but somewhere that would allow for employment and would be a good time.

Any fellow chatters have any suggestions?

Go join the slave trade at Cedar Point. Right on Lake Erie and, well, I got nothing.

You'll have a good time, when you're not working. A lot of foreign chicks, out of towners, etc..

Grand Lake St Mary's. Can probably get a job taking care of the algae. As far as good time, maybe not.

My wife said she'd like to rent out any extra space we have to some needy college students. She said boys would be better. Tall ones. Im not sure what's up with that. I think she's just a really generous person.

If I were you, I wouldn't just do something that is a "good time."

Try doing something that is relevant to what you want to do with your life. Get an internship. You can get "fun" internships that still help your career and build your resume. Don't waste your time just "making money," unless that's what you want to do in the future...employment for employment's sake.

I wish I knew this crap when I was in undergrad. I learned too late...my senior year. I was able to work a job that was AWESOME while also building my resume to something that is relevant to my career.

From your description, I'd try to gain employement up at Mackinaw, either Colonial Michilimackinac or Fort Mackinac.

I'd get internships. My company won't hire anyone without 1-2 years of experience, even straight from college.

Although, we haven't been hiring a lot lately, we just turned down a guy with a PHD in Mathematics from Stanford. I still think that was a stupid decision.

Lake of the Ozarks, MO. Sounds redneck but its really not. Alot of professionals from St Louis & KC go there. A ton of bars and restaurants for college students to work.

I worked at a summer camp my first two years of college and it was great. I got paid to have fun everyday and just make sure kids werent bullying each other. I was a soccer instructor but theres a million positions inclubing cabin specialists who just go with their kids to different activities all day. We got 2 1/2 days off a week but worked from 8-9 every day. The one i worked at was in the middle of no where West Virginia. When we got off at night I would drive about 30 minutes to the bar and we would drink until about 1:30 and had to be back by 2. One night a week we also had to stay up from 10-2 and make sure no kids were sneaking out. We did alot of traveling during time off like Snowshoe WV and Wahington DC. There was also tons of hooking up among counselors. Great summer job for a college student. The Came I worked at was Twin Creeks but theres camps all over the eastern United States. Hell my junior year i was offered a positon in upper ny as a team leader. That job would have been managaing other counselors and choosing whatever i wanted to do all day. I made a ton of connections including the owners wife who was president of coach.

A typical day was wake up at 8 eat at 845. Clean your bunk for like 15 minutes then go play water basketball, soccer, tennis Lunch, rest hour, mountain biking, vollyball, baseball, Dinner, Cricket, shower, put the kids to bed and get drunk. I lived with 3 other counselors and about 14 15 year olds. You also bascially only spend money on days off and a few bucks at a cheap bar each night and your food and living is paid for.

The downside is its usually 9 weeks 8 weeks with the kids and 1 week of training. You only make like 2000$ for the 9 weeks. I always used the three weeks after i was done to travel the country with all of the counselors from other countries and we stayed with other counselors all over the country. At the camp i worked at we had counselors from 19 countries and 32 states.
