Bucs win 4-1 to take yet another series. Was worried about Lincoln who had a no hitter through 5. Go for the sweep tomorrow! (Yea, it's Verlander, but all of a sudden the bats are coming alive)

Current 3-game skid for the Pirates. Keep falling behind Philly early and then they rally but just not enough. Last night they had runners at 2nd and 3rd 0 outs in the 7th and failed to get a run out of that. Cutch leads off the 8th with a double....no runs out of that. Tabata is sucking ass right now. St. Louis is now in 2nd in the division.

I hope this is just a rough patch and not the beginning of the end.

Next two days hopefully will address that, since Pirates will have McDonald and Burnett going and Philly will have a middle reliever and Kendrick (who bounces between the rotation and pen regularly, it seems). Hopefully they get both to split the series.

And yeah, that seventh inning pissed me off. Also not sure why Hurdle decided to try for a second inning out of Cruz...that could have turned out better.

Fort gives the Buccos a lead with a 3-run shot. Nice.

Kind of an ugly game pitching-wise (can't be having the middle relief falter like Hughes and Watson did last night...especially when Cruz and Resop have been faltering like that for some time now), but the offense carried the team. Hopefully, Burnett can give a good outing today. And the offense pounds on Kendrick, as they have to be super-hurting in the bullpen after using most everyone last night.

Off to a good start so far. Still in the top of the first and they're just brutalizing Kendrick. Four runs across the board and only one out in the inning.

Make that five runs. Pedro just hit his 14th.

The best part: Philly has NO bullpen, as Papelbon was the only guy they didn't use yesterday. Kendrick getting destroyed early on is beautiful. Manual either has to stick with a guy who sucks ass or completely kill his bullpen.

Well, this game COULD have been a laugher. But the Pirate offense fell asleep after the five-run first and it's now 5-3 going into the seventh. Burnett's been generally okay, but it just pisses me off when a team pounds a shitty pitcher in the first inning and lets him off the hook so that he gives his team five strong ones (and possibly another, as he's starting the seventh) so they can get back into the game.

Too close for comfort after being up 5-0 before the Phillies even took the plate, but a win is a win!

Good to split a four-game road series after going down 0-2, also.

Keep winning and put the pressure on the Reds and Cards...and completely eliminate the other three teams. Well, completely eliminate the Brewers. The Cubs have already eliminated themselves and I can't see the Astros even staying remotely in contention much longer.

The Reds are on an 11 game, west coast road trip. If the Pirates are going to make a move, now is the time.

Yep. Some momentum heading into the AS break would be big too.

Who saw that one coming. (Especially with Correia on the mound) Bucs pound St. Louis 14-5.

Cutch--4-5 with 3 RBI and another homer. How he isn't getting votes for the All Star Game is beyond me. Best player in baseball at this time.

Pedro 1-5 but with 4 RBI.

Pirates hit 4 HR's.

And something to be noted--with 41 wins the Pirates are half way to that .500 season, with over half the season left. Right now .500 doesn't seem to be the goal. In this division, it's possible they could be looking at a Central title.
