That being said I'm still very high on Uriah, he did show that he has some grappling skills. He said that he was just out there trying to have fun, this isn't the place for that. These guys are too good, you have to have a killer mentality and he didn't have that last night. Seems to be all mental hurdles with him.

Anyone else think the Tate fight was stopped to early I mean she was shooting for a takedown. The female official sucks. All throughout the fight she was trying to impose herself on the fight with stupid warnings ie. don't hit the back of the head when she was hitting her in the ear. Then she misses an illegal knee and stops a fight where a fighter is shooting an an oppenents leg. Tate had won 2 out of 3 rounds on 2 judges scorecards and who knows if she coulda survived those final two minutes.

I watched it live and in slow motion. None of the knees were illegal. Tate tried to play the keep a hand on the mat thing but Cat timed it perfect and caught her right as her hand came up.gerb131;1425298 wrote:That Zigano made a mess of Tates face. Tate was saying one of the final blows before the fight was stopped was an illegal knee. Either way Tate was getting worked.

I agree that it was stopped early, no doubt.sportchampps;1425543 wrote:Anyone else think the Tate fight was stopped to early I mean she was shooting for a takedown. The female official sucks. However, the knees were not illegal.

Kim Winslow is awful, god awful. Someone is going to get seriously hurt one day because of her.

I was glad to see Uriah lose but he will be back for sure. I thought it was crazy that Zingano didn't even get to walk to the octagon with music and she beats Meisha Tate. I'm pumped for Saturday now.

100% agree on top of being one of the ugliest humans ever!! I thought the card ended up being very good as I finally got to watch last night. I did think the Tate fight was stopped to soon, look like Tate was taking a shot on the legs when Winslow jumped in though she was rocked no doubt there. I think Rousey rips Zingano's arm off though! I was glad to see the Uriah Hall train stopped though, all that talk was way premature and I didn't even think the group of fighters on this show were that good compared to season's past so I think we got a false impression of him. Faber looked great IMO as well. Overall very happy with the card and looking forward to this week's action on Fox.

I guess I just find it funny that this women's MMA stuff is getting made into a civil rights issue like they were being kept out of the UFC because they are women. I was actually entertained and interested in the fight Saturday. I have no problem with women's fighting. I just don't see how it can last. I don't think I can get into two women coaching the next season of TUF though.
So who does everyone have for Saturday?

Does anyone else think Kelvin will drop to welterweight? Most fighters who can make a weight multiple times in a short period like they have to do on TUF, can usually manage to drop another weight class when they get off the show. He could be another really solid addition to 170.

Almost every women's fight I have seen has been highly entertaining. They have less power and there is very little feeling out process, they get after it right away in most cases. They also have less offensive and defensive technique to this point so it makes for more exchanges and back and forth action.bigdaddy2003;1425807 wrote:I guess I just find it funny that this women's MMA stuff is getting made into a civil rights issue like they were being kept out of the UFC because they are women. The Ben Henderson and Gilbert Melendez fight is really hard to pick, I guess I'll pick Benson based on athleticism,
Cormier is a tough match up for Mir, even though Frank is supposedly in great shape and training at Jacksons. Cormier is a monster though.
Nate Diaz and Josh Thomson, I could see Josh Thomson trying to do to Nate what he did to KJ Noons, just take him down and hold him. Nate's grappling is at a much higher level than that though, and I see him getting back on track by stopping an underrated Thomson.
Jordan Mein is extremely technical on the feet, but Matt Brown is just nasty, and tough as hell. I think he will find a way to make the fight dirty and win.

I think Bendo wins easily. The only slight weakness I have seen with Bendo is he is he can be hit, but I don't think Melendez will be the one to hurt him on the feet and change the fight. Bendo has better cardio, better wrestling, better scrambles, and is a better athlete in general. Count me as one who thinks Melendez is overrated.robj55;1425885 wrote:The Ben Henderson and Gilbert Melendez fight is really hard to pick, I guess I'll pick Benson based on athleticism,

Cormier over Mir by TKO. Mir's chin is gone.
Diaz over Thompson by Decision. He will win the standup game.
Mein over Brown by sub. (I'm rooting for Brown though, love that guy)

A lot of people seem to think Gil is overrated, I think he is pretty well rounded, Ben may just be a little bit better everywhere. Don't think Ben will get his first stoppage in the UFC though. Mir seems like a guy who got by on talent for most of his career, never really working hard. You know Jackson and company will have him in top shape, not sure that will be enough against someone like Cormier.Zoltan;1426177 wrote:I think Bendo wins easily. Me too man, top to bottom a great card, has a Strikeforce vs UFC theme, definitely worth checking out the prelims. I think Gil vs Ben could be a war, very similar styles.bigdaddy2003;1428327 wrote:I'm pumped for Saturday.
