What was Brock's gameplan, to stand with Reem? No double leg takedown? I don't get it, maybe his heart wasn't in it after the surgery and illnesses.

Also, what a fucking night of fights, had a little bit of everything. MMA is fucking amazing, literally gets my heart pounding, nuts!

He tried but failed. I mean, Overeem was lower than he usually is in his stance so he could better prevent take downs and if you shoot a double on Alistair you'll probably end up choked, he has a wicked standing guillotine.

Retirement just in time to make his WWE return at Wrestlemania.

How long before Brock is back in WWE???

I think he might actually be done. Dude seems to like farming and certainly has plenty of money. He'd probably be happier if he just stayed retired.

I agree. I think he just wants to spend as much time with his family and just farm.

Gotta admit i was wrong. Lesnar looked bad though but Overeem now should get to fight Cain JDS or Shane

I thought Brock would put up a better fight, but his stand up and conditioning just aren't up to par with a guy like Overeem. Brock wasn't going to be able to just shoot in on him and take him down.

I also wonder how into this fight Brock really was. seemed like he had his mind made up to retire before the fight was even started. He just didn't look into it once the bell rang.

It didn't really go how I thought it would. I thought it would get out of the first round but I also expected Brock to land a take down. He just didn't seem that into the fight.

Now onto Overeem and JDS. I assume it could happen soon since Overeem didn't get beat up.

JDS - Overeem is very compelling because JDS is a power puncher.

It looked to me like Lesnar had his mind made up before the fight that he was going to retire. To me, that means you have to question how well his head was into this match. I think his gameplan was horrible. I understand Overeem was sitting low and not going to allow any shoots/takedowns, but you gotta try. Yes Lesnar had Overeem's leg that one time, but that wasn't a "rush" or a "shoot" IMO. That was he happened to get in close and made a weak attempt. Everyone knew in the entire MMA community knew that if Brock tried to stand and box with Overeem that he would lose. How on earth you don't try balls out to take the guy down is mindblowing to me. You can say "because Overeem was guarding against that," but IMO that doesn't mean you still don't try to get him down. Everyone, and I mean EVERYONE, in the MMA community knew he had to. I don't care how you do it, but you gotta get it done; and if you can't, then you fail trying that way.

Nate Diaz landed 238 significant strikes against Cerrone and 260 total strikes, unreal. Landed at a rate of 82%, those have to be UFC records.

Seriously, Cerrone had a few opportunities in the 2nd and 3rd but never jumped on them.

Cerrone could have had the same amount of strikes if he would have kept throwing kicks. Could have made Diaz unable to walk if he kept those up earlier in the fight and more frequent throughout.

Brock has been done since Carwin...before the Carwin fight. I worked with a guy who grew up with Brock. He hasn't been into it for quite some time.

The diverticulitis really took a lot out of him though too. I think a lot of what happened tonight can be chalked up to that. He was really, sort of, on his death bed. It got really bad. It was the last fight on his contract (I believe), so it's no surprise that he was done. I still don't know what he was doing the last two fights trying to stand. He even tried to stand a little against Mir (in the second time around) before he got stunned a bit before he took it to the ground and finished him.

To look at Brock's resume though, he's only had 8 fights in the Octagon. That's nothing. Overeem has 48. Frank Mir has 21. Cain has 10. Couture has 30. Heck, even Heath Herring has 43 fights. Brock has had a good amount of fights against seasoned vets (Cain doesn't have much more than Brock). No one has really been thrown to the wolves like Brock has -- although he probably wanted it that way. Brock fought Mir in his first-ever UFC fight. Who does that?! I hate to see Brock go. I enjoyed him. He wasn't the best fighter, but he'd put on a decent show sometimes. He was always entertaining though.

He'll go hunt. He'll go have a lot of fun with Sable (although, I guess you NEVER call her by that name). He'll enjoy his peace and quiet. Or...he may end back up in the WWE for a spell. Maybe do one of those Rock contracts, appear in 12 or so WWE events a year and get paid big bucks.

You can't kick when you are walking backwards effectively, that's all Cerrone had and NAte took it away with pressure.

He didn't wanna jump in the guard and get submitted imo, he was happy to not get finished even though he got battered on the feet, Diaz hurt him multiple times. That was an absolute clinic and I believe a UFC record.

He could have kept distance better with kicks. You can't really throw a punch that means much while you're being kicked in the legs by someone that does it well.

I'm not taking anything away from Nate's great performance. Just think Cerrone could have had a higher volume of kicks that would have been more effective. And he should have at least gone to the ground momentarily after those sweeps and knockdowns if only to secure the points from the judges and then GTFO of Nate's ground game which he was clearly afraid of.
