Most of his teammates at Greg Jackson's are the same way.

I hate GSP fights not because I don't like the dude for some reason but because his fights suck. Always boring, boring decisions.

I'm not impressed with GSP, he was damn near outstruck by a guy who has some of the worst standup at 170(although he looked greatly improved tonight) and was busted up by him. Please Dana let Nick Diaz have GSP, he will knock him out and get rid of the boring "safe" fighter". I can't believe this fight didnt hit the ground for more than 30 seconds, I know Shields' gameplan could not have been to stand all 5 rounds with GSP. That Machida karate kid kick was unbelievable, perfect technique. I literally jumped out of my seat. The Aldo-Homineck fight was a far, one of the better fights i've seen in a long time, Aldo's head movement and explosiveness is crazy, and MH is tough as hell.

I'm glad that Hominick's hematoma didn't pop.

I was talking to a friend of mine who went to the event and he said the crowd turned on GSP and booed him loudly. He also said that the crowd at one point, starting cheering for Shields.

I wouldn't mind seeing Diaz and GSP. Sounds like it may happen if Diaz can behave outside of the octagon.

This was a horrible fight for GSP for sure, but he still beat Shields who has not lost in forever. GSP would beat Diaz 9/10 times by taking him down at will. The mistake by GSP made last night was not taking Shields down more. He is at his best when he is mixing it up. Even if he would just take him down, deliver some quick punches and let him right back up it would have set up his stand up. He felt the pressure to knock someone out and was just winging that overhand right.
Out of GSP's last ten fights I would say only the Hardy fight was really boring.

Zoltan, I respect your opinion that GSP isn't boring but to the general fan he is very boring. I love the sport but I know people like me who are watching GSP fights hoping to see him lose. That is why I want him to fight Spider.

He may take him down but Nick could very easily submit him from his back. Thats why the matchup intrigues me so much.

I would rate that chance as about 1/10, hence I said GSP would win 9/10 times. It is very, very tough to submit someone as savvy as GSP when they specifically trying to not be submitted. It would be a really boring fight I think, lots of safe top control from GSP.

True true it could be a boring fight but Nick won't go down easily. I think the 1/10 chance is more of it actually going down than Diaz winning.

I don't think GSP is boring I just think he is scared to lose and thus lacks a killer instinct. The Diaz fight would be incredible I think, that kid has no ounce of fear in his body. If it goes to the ground he has a chance to sub him and if Jake(who according to fight metric only was outstruckby 7, which blows my mind considering he is one of the worst stirkers i've seen at 170), can bust up GSP and send him to the hospital then I feel Nick's pressure style can make GSP wilt and he can KO him.

Really?
Boring fights:
GSP vs Kos I 2007
GSP vs Alves 2009-Should have finished him
GSP vs Hardy 2010-Should have finished him standing
GSP vs Kos 2 2010-He didn't want to finish someone who couldn't see out of his eye
GSP vs Shields 2011-No explanation needed
Pretty much ever since he regained his title, he's fought very safe.
In terms of exciting champs:
1. Jones
2. Silva
3. Velasquez
4. Aldo
5. Edgar
6. GSP
7. Cruz

I sort of agree, but all fights are different. I would rate Kos as a much better striker than Shields and we saw how that went. The Alves fight was probably standing for 10-12 minutes of the 25 and I thought GSP got the better of that on the feet.

Good article. I hope it happens but I don't give it too high of a chance but I hope I'm wrong.

Ya, it is. Silva at 2nd? Really? His only recent exciting one was his straight leg KO of Belfort. Wow, u mean to tell me you forget how much he's been slammed by Dana for being so boring after GSP fought just last night? Silva definitely deserves to be in bottom, and Aldo near the top. When you're the champ, all you have to do is score some points, and keep the fight at a distance, and these guys know it. If there is a strong enough threat, I'm sure they would work harder if they had to, but hell, even GSP knew he had that fight won, no matter how bad he looked.

Hes a damn good fighter, and talented as hell. But he has no killer instinct, he does exactly what i said he does....fights not to lose

You must be forgetting his fights against Leben, Franklin x2, Lutter, Marquardt, Henderson, Irvin, and Griffin. He fucked around only twice. Against Leites and Maia who are both terrible on the feet. Why should he play right into their world when he's a striker?
