I stand corrected, I thought the story I read said Belfort was hurt.

I just don't feel he's done enough to earn a shot.
That is not true.
He fought Terry Martin and Matt Lindland at MW in Affliction. The catch weight of 195 for Franklin's fight was picked by Franklin because he was making the transition up to 205.

He may or may not, but right now, at 185, who besides Sonnen does deserve a title shot?
Silva has cleaned everyone out except for Okami and Belfort, and Okami lost his "chance" when he got demolished by Sonnen.
I understand that Okami and Marquardt are fighting and winner get a chance, which is fine since both of their last losses was to Sonnen who now has a "*" next to his name.
But other than Okami, who at 185 has a legit argument for a title shot?

My only other thought is possibly Demian Maia...maybe put him in the mix after these next two fights go down.

I'm a huge Maia fan, but he got destroyed by Marquardt and Silva made him look retarded. As much as I hated Silva for that "fight", Maia had no answer for him.
Maia needs to become a much better wrestler so he can get the fight into his world to become a title contender again.
Maia is below Belfort, Okami, Marquardt at this time.

Is Stann cutting to 185 to fight Leben? Or is Leben nutting up and going up to 205 to fight Stann? Either way thats a stand up war

Yeah Stann is going to 185.
Belfort needs to fight either Okami or Marquardt. Is 185 the worst divison in the UFC? Depth wise?

I think its HW, I think MW looks like it has no depth because of how Silva has made them all look retarded.The_Crosby_Show;495066 wrote:Yeah Stann is going to 185.

I actually think depth wise, in the UFC, it goes like this..
LW-so many top tier fighters
LHW-see above, its hard to pick if LW or LHW is better
WW-real close to MW, but WW has more 2nd/3rd tier fighters
MW-plenty of good fighters and a couple top tier
HW-more top tier fighters than MW, but after that the cupboard is bare.

I think boxers need to just quit boxing, get trained in MMA and then try to get into the UFC (not the Toney route). Maybe this would provide better talent in all levels.

Just train in MMA is easy to say, but you can't learn decades of wrestling in a year or so. Like it or not, wrestling dominates MMA, a wrestler can determine where the fight goes. If they want to keep it standing, they can and will. If they want the fight on the ground, they will get it there.
The only way a boxer could come in and do well is if they trained a crap ton of BJJ to make a wrestler think twice about taking it to the ground.
A boxer would have to be a BJJ black belt to beat nearly any average MMA guy.

Wrestling skills take a while to learn because so much of it is feel and instincts. Just knowing how to control your hips and positioning. Really subtle things that you don't pick up until after you've been doing it for at least a few years.
It's why it's a bit easier to go from wrestling to BJJ or something because you already know how to position yourself and control your opponent's position.

It would be, unfortunately due to the fact that top tier boxers (Mayweather, etc) get paid much more than top tier MMA guys, and the fact that boxers would get killed in the UFC, you won't see it happen anytime soon (at least a lot of them coming over).NWIndianNation01;495504 wrote:I just say that because it seems like an easy source of fighters...
IWP is right, its so much easier to go from wrestling to BJJ than the other way around.
My kid is only 7, has wrestled for 2 years, and with zero BJJ experience went and won a BJJ tournament against kids that have been doing BJJ for a year or more.
His BJJ experience was 20-30 minutes of me teaching him a couple moves that are "different" than wrestling and the different rules.
Even the big "grappling" tournaments like NAGA are usually dominated by wrestlers who have some submission/BJJ experience rather than guys with a ton of BJJ experience.
And this is coming from someone who likes BJJ better than wrestling. I only wrestled for 2 years back in school but have trained BJJ for the last couple years as well.

B-Dubs here... not big enough, IMO to buy. Might as well take the lady out for the night, haha.
I'll be getting 121, 123, and 124 for sure.
