New York Islanders (1979-1982)
The Islanders are the last professional sports team to win four straight titles and are one of the greatest hockey dynasties of all time. They only lost two Stanley Cup Finals games over that four year span.
Pittsburgh Steelers (1974-1979)
The Steelers were led by quarterback Terry Bradshaw and wide receivers Lynn Swann and John Stallworth. Running back Franco Harris also played a large part in the Steelers' dominance. Led by "Mean" Joe Greene, the Steelers won four Super Bowls over a six year period, twice defeating the Dallas Cowboys.
Los Angeles Lakers (1979-1989)
These Lakers teams were led by one of the greatest players of all time in Earvin "Magic" Johnson. Up front big man Kareem Abdul-Jabbar was also one of the most dominant players in NBA history. James Worthy completed the trio and head coach Pat Riley was the catalyst behind this team winning five championships in 10 seasons to go along with eight finals appearances.
University of Connecticut Women's Basketball (2000-2010)
Led by head coach Geno Auriemma, Connecticut has won six NCAA Championships over the past 11 seasons and at one point 90 consecutive games. They won three consecutive titles from 2002-2004 and have had three undefeated seasons along the way.
Montreal Canadiens (1956-1960)
They have the longest consecutive streak of NHL Championships of all time (5 in a row in 5 years). During their five-year domination they defeated some of hockey's best in the Stanley Cup, including Detroit, Boston, and Toronto.
Chicago Bulls (1991-1998)
Over an eight year span the Bulls won six NBA Championships and if Michael Jordan had not left the game for two years, chances are it would have been eight straight. The Bulls simply dominated the competition for nearly a decade winning an NBA record 72 games during the 1995-1996 season.
New York Yankees (1947-1962)
Over this 16 year span the Yankees won 10 World Series titles and made 13 appearances in the Fall Classic.
The catalyst behind each and every championship was one of the greatest catchers of all time, Yogi Berra. Berra won a ring for every finger during his time with the Yankees. The dynasty was also separated between two offensive stars, Joe DiMaggio at the beginning and Mickey Mantle at the end. Manager Casey Stengel was there for seven of the titles, including five straight from 1949-1953.
University of North Carolina Women's Soccer (1982-2000)
From 1982-2000 they won an astounding 16 NCAA Championships. No other team has ever dominated over a 19-year period quite like the Tar Heels of North Carolina. The man behind it all is head coach Anson Dorrance who has a career record of 625-28-20, including a 101-game unbeaten streak, and has coached 20 National Players of the Year.
Boston Celtics (1957-1969)
Amassing 11 NBA Championships in 13 seasons, what the Celtics did may never be matched at the professional level. On the court they were led by Hall of Famers Bill Russell in the middle and Bob Cousy on the perimeter. John Havlicek also played a vital role in those championship teams. From 1959-1966, the Celtics won eight straight NBA Championships, allowing Auerbach to light up a few more cigars.
UCLA Basketball (1964-1975)
From 1964-1975 the UCLA men's basketball team was as good as it gets, winning 10 NCAA Championships over a 12-year span. They were led by the greatest coach in sports history, John Wooden. From 1967-1973, the Bruins won seven straight titles and also amassed four undefeated seasons during their 12-year run. Their 88-game winning streak is the longest in college basketball history and their 10 titles in 12 seasons will never again be matched.
