Agree with ya! I don't have a problem with those that take up religion, believe, etc...I just ask that you find your own path and answers, not just follow those that came before you because that is what they put in your head!

Also Fab1b, part of the problem is that people don't want to look back on their life as a waste, even though in their head they agree with you.

Look up cognitive dissonance. It's the bain of believers.

I have a brother who is complete opposite of me. My family is strong believers but they did let us make our own choices.

If you love your religion that is great, that tells me you sought it out and determined that path was best for you. That is all I was getting at. See my post above about my mother and I, same thing just the other side.

Ya sorry dumb was the wrong word to use. I don't have a problem with people not believing or being religious at all. It's your life and your path so you should get to choose. That is the great thing about living in the United States of America!

Unless your faith/spirituality isn't at all based on the bible, quran, torah, etc then just because someone says they are separate from religion doesn't make it so.

Didn't know the bible was specific to organized religion? You can study the bible and have faith based on that without buying into all the bullshit of many organized religions. As you said before, your assertion is "bullshit"

I promise I will not attack you or make fun of you in this thread.
Let's pretend that you actually mean that even though you've already called several people 'ignorant'.

Let's start by saying that prayer is a dedication of mind and heart to the values of your particular religion..of your particular relationship with God and his universe.

To that end, I pray for enlightenment and epiphany. Prayer helps me sort thru the 'noise' of daily life and helps me act consistently with what I value and what I believe in. It keeps me grounded to my core, and helps me act in accordance with what I view as the creator's purpose for me.

So your choice was either believe in what they believe or don't believe.

I suppose that's better than nothing, despite me not believing your story. Once the light of logic is seen, its extremely rare for someone to return to the neverneverland.

I haven't called anyone ignorant. I have said they have made ignorant statements, which is accurate. Sorry.

The existence of millions of niche beliefs systems is proof enough that there is no religious god. There is only one truth out there. Religion are designed for power and money. That's it.

LOL what?

Yeah, organized religion cannot be proven to be accurate, therefore it requires faith. Faith is a copout and a mental handicap.

What do you mean "LOL what?"

Why do you have to belong to a specific organized religion to have faith? What if someone believes there is a God and believe in the Pauline Epistles? They obviously don't belong to an organized religion, yet they have faith.

You're saying they didn't have or put religious beliefs in the bible? Explain all the talk about Judaism, etc all over the bible then. Because organized religion is all throughout it.

And I said organized religion, not just the Catholic Church.
