So I'm in Texas as a guest for my wife's work conference and we are at the formal dinner last night. Several hundred people and it's a really laid-out spread, top-shelf drinks, etc.

Seated for dinner, there are eight people at the ten-seat round table and the empty seats are on either side of us. The staff starts bringing out the main course and I see that it's filet and crab cakes with potates and vegtables. I'm starving and ready to throw that shit down when I see the servers put a plate where the two empty seats are. My eyes light up cuz I know I'm getting at least one of those, but wait...

My brilliant wife says "oh those seats are empty" and they pick both plates up. WTF? Are you kidding me???

I'm convinced women have no common sense. I mean, you don't care if the oil in your car has ten thousand miles on it....but you're worried about whether or not some little mexican girl gives us extra food on the Marriott's dime.

That was bonehead move of the year and it's only January. Jesus H. Christ, woman.

You lack any sense of ethics. Sure, its only a few meals, but I bet that the Marriott only made so much food for the exact guest list at the event. If they gave your table extra, someone would be out food.

I suppose I'm also tired of the mentality that corporations are evil and that they need to be exploited. Corporations employee people, and some of them even redistribute their profits to their shareholders(read: Your retirement account).

Any catering crew makes the total number and then an extra ~20%. The employees ate those extra meals, instead of SVF.

I find your manners to be bad. It's a laid out spread and you're gonna gorge on seconds? Faux pas, my friend.

......and then most of the extra food gets thrown away. You would be shocked at the amount of food that gets pitched. I'm not sure if there is a law or not...but I'm pretty sure once food reaches a table, it cannot be re-served. In any case, I don't think it's that big a deal that we have to label SVF as classless or mannerless. That should be reserved for people who show up at an affair woefully underdressed which is dissrespect for the host. Most people who host an affair want their guests to have a good time and enjoy the spread. Having "seconds" would be considered somewhat complimentary of the food offered. Beyond that, or inconviencing other guests by your 'gluttony' would be vulgar and classless.

In any case, you should thank your wife SVF...she just wants to keep you trim, lean, and healthy:laugh:

I'm sorry, fat pig is rude. Seriously tho'....two plus dinners a night most likely isn't very good for you.

Now excuse me, I'm going to go eat a jumbo pizza by myself. Burp.

LOL at the people talking about how classless it would be to eat anything from the extra plates. There's not a guy on here that wouldn't have eaten an extra, or half, filet or crab cake. If you wouldn't, then you need to go wipe your vagina.

Know the OP was not serious. I'm not mad at my wife and the whole table laughed about it, though they were all with me on her just keeping quiet about it. Someone at the table even said they won't go re-serve those plates after they were put on our table.

My point was just how women think different than men about stuff like food.
