If the steer you are planning to purchase is a breed champion (i.e., is the champion of the Angus division of the show), then yes, you would be purchasing an Angus steer (a pedigree or registration paper would confirm this.) I am not sure what county Dover is in nor what the set up of that county fair is so I can't comment furthermore on that. Good luck.

Tuscarawas County...or as Woody Hayes put it, God's Country

My longhorn (or beulingo) beef is pretty damn edible. It's better than anything I've ever bought at the store.

I'm not sure but I think it already been package... I would get about 150 pounds plus of meat both front / back cuts and lots of hamburger. Simply put it would run me $3.70 a pound..
Keep it simple, if you can't afford it, don'y buy it. You never bought beef before?

The price is not the problem.. is the cost a good buy?

My grandpa would kill a cow every year ... When my wife and I was first married I bought a 1/4 (37 years ago) I was not impressed with the selection and Angus beef was not invented. I have a list of the beef cuts I will be getting and it look like a very good list of some nice cuts..

I'd have to agree with this. Most steers are NOT angus.

We fed out male holsteins just off the bottle (in my younger years), very good corn fed quality and i sold at market plus processing. I was buying from milk farms at 1.00 a lb for calves.

The Angus thing is a racket, just like the way oil companies tried to make you thing theirs was special. The grade(prime, choice, select, good) and the cut(round, chuck, rib, porterhouse, etc) are the important things. I prefer to get my favorite cuts, and not have to take some of everything!
