Heh, yeah, I was going to reference that expedition. Two drunk ass honkeys walking from Covington, KY to the far east end of 8th street down town at 2am.

Just to offer a rebuttal- unless since you lived downtown and didn't look like a visitor. I suspect people coming and going from the hotels are targeted more often then people who reside downtown.

Just as a comparison, I feel safer downtown Chicago then Cincinnati.

You cincy folk will probably get a kick out of this.

Cincy made the top 10 travel destinations for 2012 according to Lonely Planets Top 10 travel destinations of 2012.

Here is a small part that made me kind of laugh:
“Seen Cincy lately? The pretty city on the Ohio River - off the main cross-country interstates - gets bypassed by many road trippers, but it’s quietly transformed itself in the last decade into a worthy weekend getaway. Life centers around the river - much which can be seen by foot: river walkways are best on the Kentucky side, reached via a couple bridges including John Roebling’s Suspension Bridge (a prequel to his famous Brooklyn Bridge). Narrow, twisting (and steep) brick roads of the Mt Adams district lead past 19th-century Victorian townhouses and the free Cincinnati Art Museum, while the once-dangerous, emerging Over-the-Rhine, just north of downtown, is home to the Findlay Market and a sprawling collection of historic Italianate architecture. Best, though, is the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center, open since 2004, on the banks of the river where many slaves escaped to freedom in the 19th century.”
Is over the rhine really an emerging place for tourists to visit? All we ever hear about is how nasty that area is.
Also the Freedom Center............the BEST thing to see in Cincy???

but I digress.

For a short bit there was a female I was smitten by in Cincy, an amazing, amazing, amazing gal and I had went down a few times...too bad that didnt work out, but i digress. I agree with heading to NK for the Hopstra place. Good, good times.

OTR isn't as bad as it's reputation. The Freedom Center is cool, but hardly the coolest thing about Cincinnati and it is in pretty big financial trouble so it will probably be moving soon. The best parts of Cincinnati are not downtown, but in smaller neighborhoods that are a short drive from downtown. Places like Hyde Park, Oakley, Mt Lookout, Mt Adams (I hate it but it is popular), etc. Downtown is getting better, and once The Banks is done it will be legit, but unless we are going to a game or something at Duke Energy we don't go downtown often.

^^^ Actually, in the past five or six years hundreds of millions of dollars has been invested in OTR to clean up the community, improve the infra-structure, development of condos, new businesses, restraurants, nightclubs etc. It actually is becoming a bit of a destination and I imagine within the next few years will be the trendy place to be in Cincinnati.

Findlay Market has always been a destination in the city. I would recommend you check it out some time.

Findlay Market is awesome. We go a lot in the spring/summer.

We've been to Neons Unplugged once which is in OTR and is awesome. We also were looking at condo's in OTR before we decided to just rent for a while and then look at houses.

My mother-in-law is a huge perpetuator of the downtown and OTR being dangerous stereotype. She was very against us getting a condo in OTR and didn't like that I got an apartment downtown. She thought it was almost a guarantee that someone was going to mug her daughter. Derp.

Yeah, nothing is usually as bad as its reputation but I just chuckled at the article though that brought up those two things that even locals dont even usually seem to want to visit and do.

I think when The Banks project is completed it is gonna be flippin unreal. I look for it to be like the Arena District in Columbus but on the river with all that extra ambiance it brings. It will def liven up the area.

When the banks is done... more dead people in the river!

I only say this b/c, when the banks is done, Heretic will visit Justin more, and wherever Heretic goes, dead people in rivers goes.

It has been nearly 8-9 years since I had been to a Reds game, and when I went this past summer, I was very impressed just with what was around the stadium. I wish I lived closer to Cincy :(

Yeah, it's a lot better than it was even the season before. Just adding the Holy Grail right there was huge. We'll soon have at least 4 or 5 bars in that same area. The Christian Moerlein Lagerhouse opens Feb 27th and it looks awesome. Very excited for it to open.

I am not excited, however, for Toby Keith's I Love This Bar and Grill.

Maybe check out Adonis or Simon Says downtown. Shooters is a few blocks away from there if you are into Country Music. It's been years since I've been to Shooters.

It's okay in small doses. Most of the Mt Adams crowd are the jersey shore/let's go to da club types. If you stay away from the Pavilion it's not too bad.

Yesterdays is my favorite bar there and the view is pretty cool since it's on the side of a hill overlooking downtown.

Thanks for the suggestions...I'm going to check it out this weekend and see what sounds best. She is into bars/partying/ballin out and I am too(although i hate jersey shore douchebag dudes so that part of mt adams might be out of the question) so we will most likely get some food and then drink
