Where does he stand all time right now?

If Alabama holds on, he will now have 3 national titles at 2 different schools. He is undefeated in title game appearances, and has dominated what is considered to be the best conference in College football.

A bunch of guys have gotten 2, but this third now really elevates him I think as far as his standing among all time great college coaches.

Word. Singlehandedly set Miami back 7 years. May have killed them since the bad stink has deterred anyone good from going there and the ownership is now lost.

As a college coach, one of the best ever.

Fielding Yost
Knuts Rockne
Frank Leahy
Woody Hayes
Bear Bryant
Tom Osbourne
Joe Paterno
Nick Saban

The list goes on and on. He's in there no doubt. Alabama could go on a run that even 2000's USC didn't manage to do (and it's scary thinking about how close they were to really blowing the lid off of college football).

What kind of stocks has he gotten into that makes him a POS?

I'd add Pete Carroll and Jim Tressel and Urban Meyer to that list.

Tressel won 4 national titles before OSU...then went on to win one at OSU and won 5 BCS Bowls.

Pete Carroll won 2 national titles and won 6 BCS Bowls at SC

Urban Meyer has 2 national titles and won 4 BCS Bowls at Florida/Utah and who knows what he'll do in the next few years at OSU

Urban Meyer definitely belongs on that list, and I forgot Bobby Bowden too.

I think Pete Carroll and Jim Tressel are a notch below though, in terms of accomplishments on the FBS level. So is Bob Stoops.

Nick Saban rumored to have press conference tomorrow aftertoon(rumored to be 2pm). Some are speculating that he will leave Bama and become the Raiders head coach, would be interesting and he usually only stays one place around 4-5 years.

You gotta really wonder who Bama would go after if true.

Bernie Kosar (who got to know him well during his time with the Browns) was saying on Cleveland radio he thinks Saban wants another shot at the NFL, because like Pete Carrol a few years ago he had done everything you can do at the college level, and wanted to prove he could do it in the pro's after a failed stint.

Plus he might be getting out right before shit hits the fan, according to some. Just like Petey.

He may not be "The Bear" or Woody ; those days are gone. Excellent coach...arguably the best of the his time. Three NT's speak for themselves. You dont have to like him personally but you cannot deny his results.

Welcome to the OC? I agree with everything you said though. I certainly dislike him but respect his results.

He is an idiot if he takes the Raiders job. They have about 3 picks in this upcomming draft, and then the following draft he will either not have a 2nd round pick or a first round pick.
