Honest question, as a LSU fan would you still rather have played and lost to Bama (a team you already beat) or played and lost to another 1 loss team from another conference such as Oklahoma State?

Hey when the former iona student athlete wants to watch his Alma mater on TV I ain't gonna stop him. One of the shitty parts about having a roommate I guess.

Luckily I only have to put up with iona athletics for another 5 days

Wait does let the dogs go out and shit mean the same thing as post workout workout? Masturbate and cry?

Kind of an odd quetion. I would of rather lost to anyone else and at least put forth an effort instead of losing to the team I hate most, looking bad.

I know it's odd... just curious what you think.

Now for the follow up. Would you rather play and beat Bama again (assuming it would have gone differently tonight) or play and beat another 1 loss team from another conference such as Oklahoma State?

The way I see it is... LSU really doesn't gain much from beating Bama again, where as if they beat another top contended from a different conference they easily cement their bid as one of the top teams (of all time). They would have beaten Oregon, Bama, a few other SEC teams and possibly Oklahoma State. So they would have beaten top teams from Pac12, Big12, and the best of the SEC.

This is just one of the reasons I believe there shouldn't have been a rematch.

Agree. I'm glad OSU lost to Florida and not UM like that in '06.

Bama's DC talking about Jarrett Lee:

"I am real shocked. At what point do you play him?"

Didnt WVU win their conference also? Its crazy that LSU beat 3 top 5 teams, 8 ranked teams and 3 BCS winners but look like they did tonight. And to answer your question, I would of rather beat OSU to do what you said, beating top teams from a handful of conferences. But, bama deserved to be there. People are bashing LSU on this game tonight, which they were bad......but they definitely looked the best all season. ONe game is all it takes to ruin a great season.

You and your girlfriend would have been ok with the best team being left out of the championship game?

Les Miles is the only coach in the country that could win a title and still be fired for incompetence.

What this game showed (other than rematches stink) is that if you give a good coach (Nick Saban) a month-plus to gameplan against a team that has a glaring weakness, they will expose it. LSU was exposed. Jefferson can't throw and the receivers aren't great either. A glaring weakness This was a one dimensional offense that utilized its defense and special teams that worked well in the regular season, but ultimately is still a one dimensional offense. Give Bama props, but LSU was an overhyped team. Many other teams would have beat them tonight.

Did Saban just quote a line from Red Tails?

Edit...did they watch red tails prior to the game? I missed that

Well when you spend most of your year throwing the ball 8-16 times a game, dontcha think a good coach can scheme a defense against that?

LSU deserved to be in the game because of what they did in the regular season, but that was an absolutely pitiful offensive display. Miles was incapable of changing the gameplan, and Jefferson was absolutely terrible. It was the worst performance by a team in the BCS championship, at least Ohio St. can point out that Ginn got hurt and Smith mailed it in in '06.

What exactly did Bama do that meant they earned it? Their best OOC win was against mediocre PSU team. They lost their most important conference game and didn't make their conference championship game.

Lets look at Bama's best wins

PSU (mediocre Big 10 team)

Arkansas - Pretty good victory, I'll give them that... Arkansas helped to solidify this by beating KSU.

Auburn - a 5 loss team, not really that impressive.

Florida - a mediocre team at best (6 L's on the year).

It's not like Alabama had some amazing resume. At least Oklahoma State got to and won their conference championship game. I'm still of the opinion in the current system that if you don't win your conference championship, you can't play for (and have a chance for a national championship). The conference season is like pool play... if you aren't the best in your pool, you shouldn't "advance" to the title game.

If there were a playoff however, it would be more reasonable to miss out on conference, but make the tournament for a chance at the national title.
