from Steubenville, the quickest ways to Morgantown are:

WV2 to WV27 to PA 844 to Washington and Pickup 79

OR

US22 to PA18 to Washington and pickup 79

They both take about the same time/mileage and are 20-35 min quicker than any other way

Agreed - drove back and forth to WVU hundreds of times in my college "daze"

That Mansfield game was my Freshman year. Band Busses didn't get home til maybe 2-230 AM ... Rough! Tough Loss too. Can't imagine how the players felt.

What do you think are the chances that Steubenville will gain significantly in population this year and bring more blue-collar boys to the football team. A few months ago, ABC News declared that Steubenville will have the second highest employment rate in the nation because of the gas shale boom. Even the people who move into the Sixth Ward aren't going to want to send their kids to that mess that we call Indian Creek.

If I'm right, the Big Red team could look very different this year.

Cause that is the only team that the haters have to hang their hat on. Their team can't do it, so they bandwagon on Mooney...except in 08 when Big Red beat Mooney..then they switched to Alter.

That will be interesting, but I don't see the team looking any different at all for a couple years. The chances of someone moving in and having the ability brains and stamina that would be needed to get playing time is unlikely.

You're probably right. But I'm not thinking so much in terms of ability, brains, and stamina, I'm thinking about the discipline that is needed. You can't teach that overnight.

If people only knew all the transfers that Big Red has gotten over the years that couldnt handle what is asked of them they would be amazed.

Here it is the Ides of March and we still don't know the schedule. So far we know that Big Red is going to play Brooke, Massillon, Ursuline, and Morgantown. Through the grapevine, I have heard that week 1 will be a team from Columbus, week 2 will be Cleveland Benedictine, week 6 will be Baltimore MoJo, week 9 will be Buffalo St. Joe's, and week 10 will be Buchtel. I don't know if any of these are accurate, but in some cases I got info from what I believe to be realiable sources. We'll just have to wait until the schedule comes out to see if I'm right.

According to the OHSAA website, this is Big Red's schedule for 2012:

08/23 (H) Woodrow Wilson, DC

08/31 (H) Benedictine

09/07 (H) Bishop Timon-St Jude, NY

09/14 (H) Brooke, WV

09/21 (A) Massillon Washington

09/28 (H) Westinghouse, PA

10/05 (H) Youngstown Ursuline

10/12 (A) Morgantown, WV

10/19 (-) Open (* Parkersburg South needs a game on this date also)

10/26 (H) Buchtel


Conspicuously absent are Buffalo St. Joe's and O'Hara. But there is another Buffalo area team to take their place.
