Lets say for argument's sake Patty fuckhead stays on. But you can write in things to his contract (lolz). Some things I would write:

No longer call off for the Browns. Gives up duties to Chilly
Has to get Trich the ball in space, least once a game.
Has to run on 3rd and 1 least 50% of the time.

What would you guys write in?

That's part of the problem. If you have to emasculate your head coach to make him successful he is not the guy.

I thought about that, well he could come back if we take this away, and make him do that. Then I realized how ridiculous it was, because if someone else is the one turning the offense around let them be the head coach as long as Jauron keeps control of his unit.

The thing is that sucks is you take the Philly, Indy and Dallas games...those were 3 more "should have been" wins. We would already have 8 or possibly 9 wins...the things that sucks about getting rid of Shurmur is how the players "play for him and seem to have his back" type of talk. They seem to really like him as a coach and at least they seem like they want him to stick around. I think they have to at least keep Jauron based on how well the D has played when they have their #1's at every position on the field ala (Haden, Taylor, Rubin, DQ) and I honestly have been loving the play of Craig Robertson. But think we still need to grab one more LB at least and another CB on D and the D should be set for a potential playoff run. Just have to get the O and the playcalling straight.

Stay out of the restricted zone while the ball is in play to avoid a 15 yard penalty.

If they finish the season strong, Shurmur will probably be back. They will have shown significant improvements from starting 0-5. And it's already been said, the players do like and respect him and they definitely "battle" for him. I know most on here don't want this, but it's looking more and more possible.

heckert GM saban HC jauron DC

Championship.

EDIT: if they fire shurmur. i hope he is successful here bc im tired of the head coaching revolving door here. but i do think if haslam keeps shurmur he should make him give up play calling duties.

The thing with Saban...isnt he a 3-4 defensive guy? I think that's a thing we dont want to do after building our team into a pretty good 4-3 defense and only a couple playmakers away. Saban could probably see that we're already build to run the 4-3 and should be smart enough to roll with that. It's all rumors and speculation, but say the Saban thing comes true. Who's gonna be the OC?

Why is Saban a pipe dream? When the going gets tough he quit.

No new coach will keep Jauron.

I'm to the point where I wouldn't mind keeping Shurmur now just because we know what we have with him. Any other coach they bring in will either have question marks themselves or will want to change the defense of offense to where we are starting all over again.

No offense, but I hate your line of thinking and those who think the same way. Just because we beat some pretty lousy teams at the end of the season, now he doesn't look so bad (sounds a lot like Mangini in 2010). You're right, we do know what we have with Shurmur, and having a 4-12 year and then having to win 6 in a row TO GET TO .500, also known as average, is not something I want.

I'd love to keep heckert and hire a west coast offense guy. Such as gruden. That way all the offense is still pretty much the same except the play calling and time management. It also wouldn't stunt the growth of our younger guys

The other point that that argument is if the Browns had lost to the teams they have beaten recently, everyone would be saying how bad it sucks. Case in point when they beat the Steelers, it was because Charlie Batch was the back up. If memory serves me correctly, the Browns have started a QB since coming back in 1999.

You beat the teams your suppose to beat.

T-Rich: We all got together & figured no matter what play calling is or whats going on, we just have to play the game from start to finish." Courtesy of SVP interview.
In an interview with Scott Van Pelt today T-Rich appears to be taking a subtle shot at Shurmur, with a direct reference to the play-calling.

Later down that thread on the OBR one of the more connected guys on there said it jives with what he's heard internally that the players really don't like the system and the position it puts them in during games, nor are they over enamored with Shurmur.

If true I kind of like the idea that the players have adopted a "we will win in spite of Shurmur, not because of him" mentality as it shows the players are bonding and the team isn't coming apart. For a young group that is important.

How do you guys feel about the idea of Saban? I'm a little torn.

We all know how other guys of the Bellicheck coaching tree has turned out (McDaniels, and esp Crennel and Mangini). Saban was also a loser in his stint with Miami. Just something to think about

To me, it would depend on other candidates. If they are looking at someone like Jay Gruden as well as Saban, Im taking Saban any day.
