Yeah, that's exactly what I said...

My last post regarding you and weeden is a fact, your post is just a spin.

im glad you are finally coming along!

weeden under center, trich in the backfield with little lined up to the right and gordon lined up to the left with norwood / cooper / massaquio in the slot?

i know mitchell is probably out, but if cooper makes the team which i think he will, who is the odd man out massaquio or norwood?

So NOW I see why Heckert took him with a 2nd...;)

Mary Kay Cabot ‏@MaryKayCabot
Heckert/Gordon: "Huge hands, long arms, I
drilled him pretty hard...he told me everything I thought I needed to hear from
him.''

From the Heckert presser...

Tom Withers ‏ @
twithersAP

‪ # Browns‬ coach Pat Shurmur on WR Josh
Gordon: "he possesses the skill and ability to be an outstanding player in this
league."

Tom Withers ‏ @
twithersAP

‪ # Browns‬ said they did extensive
homework on Gordon. "We're getting a really good football player," Heckert
said.

Nate Ulrich ‏ @
NateUlrichABJ

‪ # Browns‬ GM Tom Heckert on Gordon: I
don’t know if it was risky. He’s obviously a guy that can be an eventual starter
& make plays for us.

Nate Ulrich
‏ @ NateUlrichABJ

‪ # Browns‬ GM Tom Heckert said he was
going to bid on Gordon in 2nd round no matter what. Made decision before he knew
draft order.

Nate Ulrich ‏ @
NateUlrichABJ

‪ # Browns‬ GM Tom Heckert said he did
homework on Gordon. Talked to a zillion people & couldn't find anyone who
would say anything bad.

Nate Ulrich
‏ @ NateUlrichABJ

Heckert said unlike Greg Little's year off at UNC, Gordon practiced with Utah
last season.

Nate Ulrich ‏ @
NateUlrichABJ

Heckert: We hope Gordon comes in & plays right away. That's the goal.
That will depend on how he picks stuff up, but we expect him to
play.

Nate Ulrich ‏ @
NateUlrichABJ

Heckert on Weeden, TRich & Co: They're young, but we think we've got a lot better on offense in one draft, obviously if you add Josh in, too

Nate Ulrich ‏ @
NateUlrichABJ

Heckert said Gordon has potential to be No. 1 WR: He can start in the NFL.
That's obviously what we thought & that's what we still think.

Nate Ulrich ‏ @
NateUlrichABJ

Heckert said he's sure Weeden & Richardson will report to training camp
on time but didn't have any updates on the status of their
contracts

Nate Ulrich ‏ @
NateUlrichABJ

Heckert said he talked to Phil Taylor & Brian Norwood, an assistant at
Baylor, about Gordon. "Everybody loves this kid," Heckert said.

john telich ‏ @

I know Browns got Bernie in Supp draft...remember others picked up from like
USFL. Mack. Ice Cube, Minnifield... # Browns

Josh Gordon‏@JOSH_GORDONXIILet's go!! #DawgPoundNation

With the drafting of Gordon I'm thinking next years major need (1st rounder) will likely be a pass rushing DE opposite of Sheard with corner opposite of Haden being a close second.

I do like how he at least practiced with Utah. Hopefully he was working hard, also hopefully they sign him in time for training camp. What is the hold up with Weeden and Trich anyway?

T-Rich is waiting on Luck & RGIII to sign while I've heard Weeden wants his 4th year guaranteed. Gordon should sign fairly quickly as the parameters have pretty much been set by the signed 2nd rounders.

I think OLB, guard, and safety will all be right up there too. OLB will be #1 in my opinion.

My post isn't a spin. I did say I didn't want Weeden in the first. I was pissed we did it, then I came to terms that we needed to pull the trigger on a QB sooner or later so I was glad we did. If Heckert liked him, I am okay with it as I believe in how he evaluates talent. You came across as iggy in that post, sorry you can't accept that. OMG, we took a player, at a position of need, in the supplemental draft, Heckert is getting pursuaded by the fans!!! QQ

I say this because of Heckert's fondness for D-Line & corners high in the draft. He typically likes to find his LB's in later rounds.

Russ Lande's evaluation of Gordon. Lande usually does a good job. Had Gordon projected as a 1st/2nd rounder had he come out in 2011. Also likes him more than Stephen Hill & Brian Quick...

Good find BR. I would have been fine with either Hill or Quick in the 2nd so I guess Gordon isn't as huge as a reach as I thought. I will say though, everyone makes excuses for Little and his drops as not playing football for a year, I hope we're not making the same excuses for Gordon this yr.

Was listening to Tucker (Sirius XM) on the way in and was a bit surprised.

As a former Browns player he's VERY harsh on this regime. He railed on them for botching the RGIII thing, Holmgren's subsequent QQing about the Skins/Rams "good old boy network" and the Browns taking Weeden at 22 when they supposedly had him targeted at 37.

He LOVED the Gordon move and brought up a VERY good point. Getting Gordon this year was essentially using a 3rd round pick for a potential 1st round talent. According to draft charts a 2012 third rounder is the equivalent of a 2013 second rounder.

He also mentioned for the QQer's who think this was a "desparation move" that unless Holmgren & Heckert show improvement THIS year, it may be their LAST year. He said that people are bitching about "losing a high draft pick in NEXT years draft." His comment was "when will it be THIS year in Cleveland?" It's ALWAYS "wait until NEXT year." I agree with him 100%. It's only a "bad" pick or a "reach" if Gordon turns out to be a turd.

With guys like Weeden, Schwartz, T-Rich, Mack, Thomas, Pinkston, Little, Gordon & (perhaps) Benjamin on offense along with Haden, Ward, Sheard, Taylor, Rubin, DQ, and a few others, on defense I like this YOUNG nucleus. They just need time to get on the same page and learn how to win together. They may be a little slow out of the gate in 2012 but I expect to see a significant improvement in the final 8 games heading into 2013. It's going to be an exciting time to be a Browns fan, imo.

I'll give H&H credit for this..I said before, it's so frustrating that they keep sitting back and not addressing the damn WR position. It's the one position they've just completely overlooked, essentially.

I am not in love with giving up a 2nd rounder for Gordon, but at least this tells me they're actually aware that hour WR group is not a good one, and they're willing to make a move to fix it.

They've been like the Browns in their first 10 years since moving the team to Baltimore and not addressing the O-Line position lol

That is why I was so all in on reaching for Weeden and am fine with this. We didn't have another year to burn where we could "wait until next year" as some were advocating.

At least now all the growing pains will be had this year so we can prep for a bigger jump next year, rather than going through more of the same both this year and next as we broke in yet another new crop of rookies at the major skill positions.

Agree with this. They couldn't have dicked around with the McCoy "experiment" another year. They didn't have that luxury.

I like what the kid is saying, so far. I know that it's a pretty simplistic play but watch the 94 yard catch & run on the second video. Gordon is MUCH bigger than these defenders yet he outruns them relatively easily...

This is coming from a Baylor guy who watches them week in and week out (cut & pasted from the OBR)...

He’s a legit 6’3 225 4.4 guy. He ran the 4.52 Tuesday on a pulled quad. The strength and conditioning staff at BU thought they could get him to 4.35 territory. He’s not a straight line speed guy either, he can move. He’s T.O. with better speed, better hands, and more shake. He was coming out early if he hadn’t gotten kicked off the team. On talent he’s the best WR in the draft. He also catches with his hands. Never with the body. Hands are huge. Wingspan is huge.
