Putting good weapons around him won't change the checkdowns, accuracy issues, panicking, etc. I was "all in" on McCoy going into 2011. Watching him regress week after week was all I needed to know that he doesn't have "it."

Who isn't going to regress when surrounding with a shoddy O-line, no healthy RBs, and a WR corp that led the league in drops?

Hopefully it wouldn't have as many brain dead posts. Or skyhook. But the latter is probably too much to ask.

Way too much to ask. Failhook will always try too hard to troll and be a douche.

He didn't as a rookie. Coming out of the same conference. And he started.

Why wouldn't Weeden be able to do the same thing?

Weeden has said himself that he would prefer to sit to get a feel for the league.

Why waste a pick that early on a QB when we have other needs? Fill the offense with playmakers, get the line upgraded, and if mccoy chokes, we are in position next draft to move up and get Barkley. It's really not that difficult. Drafting weeden that early is just retarded/counter productive.

When are the Browns allowed to have off season activities with their players and coaches?

we are in position next draft to move up and get Barkley.
Won't people be equally pissed next year if we give up 3 #1's to move up to get a franchise QB? That is going to be the new price to get up into the top 2 to draft one. It's not like teams are going to suddenly start being happy with only a pair of them after what Washington did this past season.

At least this year it would have only been 2 years worth of #1's, moving forward without 2 in one year it will be 3 straight years, which is really pushing it.

Montana's bread and butter was the intermediate passing game, but it worked because he did have the arm to stretch the defense. McCoy doensn't have the ability to stretch a defense. Look how close the safties from ever defense play against the Browns because they know that they Browns don't have a QB that can throw the ball down field.
Yeah...I was comparing Colt with Montana. Well done sir. Your comp skills suck. Now substitute for the bolded part "wide receiver that can go deep" and then you will have your answer.

I get a little tired of rereading the SOS. When was the last Browns team to have a quality set of professional receivers? Answer....never....because the team that had a set now plays in Baltimore.

Top level QB's do not have to be taken with only the top 2 picks. If you look at the top QBs in the league, how many of them were top 2 picks? I would hope that the Browns don't give up three #1's to move up a few spots. If they have to move up more than a few spots, they will have had a much better season than I expect.

You compared McCoy's arm strength to Montana's, and that is laughable. McCoy simply can't throw the ball down field. If you surround him with the 2000 Ravens could he find a way to win, probably. They have so many needs at this point, that I am fine if they go with McCoy this season, but they will not win with him unless they are so elite at every other position that the QB doesn't matter.

No, I won't becuase we would've used a draft(just as we did last year and the year before on defense) to acquire offensive playmakers to surround the QB with. If we get a dynamic reciever, a dynamic RB, a dynamic RT, and a couple other offensive pieces with this draft, then there is no excuses for the QB situation this year. If we are solidified in that regard and McCoy is just awful this year, then I see it as absolutely neccesary to go after Barkley because those offensive pieces will be in place. This year, we need a draft to get deeper on defense, and to surround McCoy with weapons. We have such a huge need on offense, that I think it's a waste of a pick to pick someone like Weeden that high.

And THIS has been my point. Unless he has the 2000 Ravens/1985 Bears defense behind him and all time "greats" at EVERY position on offense as his "supporting cast', McCoy doesn't have a snowball's chance in Hell of leading this team to a championship. There's no "wiggle room/margin for error" with him at QB. EVERYTHING has to be the "perfect storm."

I have no issue with them riding him out THIS season as there's nothing really out there that's that much of an upgrade but priority #1 in 2013 better be QB.

Brady
P. Manning
E.Manning
Brees
Rodgers
Rivers
Stafford
Ryan
Newton
Roethlisberger

Off the top of my head, those are the QB's that if the Browns had them, I'd be extremely excited. Of those 10: 8 are first round picks, 6 are top 4 picks, 5 are #1 overall picks.

You can find a serviceable QB outside the first round, but to find a true franchise player, you probably need to be selecting in the top 5 and hopefully #1. Guys like Brady and Brees are the outliers, not the rule.

I wouldn't be extremely excited with Matt Ryan. I mean he's obviously an upgrade over McCoy, and a good qb, but I don't think he's elite and doesn't deserve to be in that group you mentioned. Reminds me of a slightly more talented Flacco.

So basically if McCoy has an All Star team around him then we can evaluate him? But until then we can't? lol
