this article pretty much sums it up

http://www.elevenwarriors.com/2011/12/poor-late-game-execution-dooms-buckeyes#more
At one point, I was almost certain the story of today's 74-70 loss to Indiana in Assembly Hall would be three clowns in stripes named Mike Sanzere, Terry Wymer and Scott Thornley that called 42 total fouls including 29 in the first 24 minutes.
Instead, the main theme was Ohio State's lack of execution in the closing minutes, most notably from William Buford and Aaron Craft.

I've watched Craft play since he was in the 7th grade. One of his strengths has always been his decision making. He made several bad decisions in this game. Plus he had the ball stolen a couple times leading to points. He is as competitive as they come. I don't think we see too many more games like this from him. And his outside shot was much more consistent in HS, as was his FT shooting.

And Sullinger was wide open after setting a pick when Buford shot that 3. He should have seen him. Bad execution down the stretch by the Bucks last night.

And I would argue that with a good officiating crew, the Buckeyes win this going away. Can't wait to play them in Cbus.

This loss can't be blamed on officiating. With that said, that was the worst officiated game I've ever seen, and it was both ways.

This. Whistle happy refs totally destroyed the flow of the game. If OSU would have won, I would have felt like the win was marred by the extremely poor officiating.

No loss can be "blamed" on the officiating, but the officiating in this game surely helped dictate who was on the floor, which affected the outcome of the game. We all know that players can wilt under the pressure of a conference game in a crazy atmosphere, and now we know that referees can as well.

ccrunner609;1033064 wrote:Still.....refs. refs, refs. LOL

OSU had a huge lead and was winning with only a few minutes left, Indiana starting center only played 21 minutes and fouled out, OSU didnt hit a 3 until half way through the 2nd half, OSU had 6 more TO then Indiana, IU had all 5 starters in double digits, foul counts were 12-10 and 10-10. So dumb that everyone is complaining about it.

But all you get around here when you actually post something of substance all you get is "troll, idiot, tool"
Who the hell is really trying to pin the loss on the refs? Just stfu. OSU got beat last night. Thomas hardly scored. Craft made some uncharacteristic awful decisions. Buford was pedestrian, at best. IU's starting 5 were better than OSU's starting five last night....that was the game. IU won that game last night, but it was still one of the most terribly officiated games you'll ever see and completely disrupted any flow to the game, which I think hurt OSU more so than IU.

Funny how you only post like this after the Bucks lose but are nowhere to be found after a win( see Duke thread) . You made your point, move on. You think Buckeye fans whine too much, we get it

Tough loss, not a huge surprise as I thought winning at IU would be tough. OSU had their chances. Turnovers cost them. Craft probably had his worst game since being at OSU as far as turnovers, at costly times. It was a perfect storm for IU, which they needed to win..OSU turnovers and foul trouble. OSU has top 3 scorers on bench for much of first half. Inexperience hurt OSU off bench.
I said prior to season that the Big Ten is going to be tough. This OSU team has a ways to go. Not as good as last year to date. Big Ten winner could have 5 losses this year.
As for officiating, not even going to comment. On the road, you gotta overcome adversity.

THis Ohio State team should not be ranked in the Top 10. This is probably the most overrated team in the NCAA. Play 3 ranked teams all year and get beat by 2. Oh and the one you did beat was at home. Play 3 road games all year and lose 2 and struggle with a bad South Carolina team which was basically a home game. Face it guys this team is Sweet 16 at best. They have zero interior defense and Sullinger plays no D at all. THis team will struggle in the Big 10 because they arent hard to figure out. OVERRATED!!!

Point is you guys are overrated and hopefully not even you will argue that one! I believe you are the 4th or 5th best team in your conference.

What teams are better? Since the league standings will eventually determine which team is the best it doesn't really matter what anyone thinks. I am not sure there is a clear cut best team in the Big 10.I think there are 4 or 5 very capable teams and OSU is among them along with UM, MSU, Indiana, Wisky, and maybe Purdue.

Whether the refs were bad or not, the Bucks had a chance to steal this game and couldn't do it. I kept looking for team toughness in a hostile environment to kick in on my Buckeyes but it never happened. Turning the ball over 4 of last 5 possessions and Sullinger not getting a touch during those last 5 possessions did them in. Being up with the ball with less than 1 minute left and not even getting a shot off was a real dagger. The youth showed last night. Craft(who I love)pead down his leg at crucial times at both ends of the floor. I'm convinced the bigger the game, the more Buford gets lost on the floor. Being the only senior, he didn't step up like a 4yr. guy is suppose to. Enough about the Hoosiers. Probably see them 2 more times...On to Nebraska.

Then why are you still talking about something that happened in 2011? Hanging on to the one impressive win you had? We all know if that game was played in Durham the outcome would be different, after all you cant win on the road and we have seen that. Last I checked the Regionals and Finals are not played in Columbus which is again why I say this is a Sweet 16 team at best. Im definitely not saying Duke will do any better because this isnt one of Dukes stronger years but one thing I can tell you is we will cut the nets down again in the near future and you........................................? NOT SO MUCH!

I'm still waiting for a leader to emerge from this group. Even though WB's the lone senior and the most viable candidate, he's just too quiet...thoughts?
