250 hours of community service and 5 years probation. Somehow 2 separate assault charges in which he used a firearm isn't jail worthy.

Yeah. If the county prosecutor is one of your character witnesses in a case, as Ewok posted, he probably will NEVER leave Steuby city limits again because as long as he stays there, he's a made man.Pick6;1146234 wrote:eh, I'd imagine he will be staying in Steubenville for good. Yep. I'm still kinda shocked by that. I probably shouldn't be though.

What is a prosecuting attorney doing being a character witness for a convicted criminal?

It wasn't the prosecuting attorney. It was the Jefferson County prosecutor that was the character witness. The prosecuting attorney would be the prosecutor in Morgantown, WV.queencitybuckeye;1147350 wrote:What is a prosecuting attorney doing being a character witness for a convicted criminal?
I know, it's confusing because Branko is from West Virginia and lived there, but played at Steubenville. So I can understand the confusion there...

I know he has some connections but it's the fact that our County Prosecutor was one of his character witnesses that surprises me. She caught some flak for it too in the comments section on WTOV9's website on the story page. They interviewed her about the criticism from some of the locals and her explanation as to why she did it just seemed lame. Something about Branko helping her son and other kids a couple years back.
I'm far from a Big Red fan but hopefully Branko is grateful for this second chance, learned his lesson and makes the most of it. Do something positive with your second chance.
I did LOL at sherm's comment though.

This probation has apparently come as no surprise to the family. Branko and I are distantly related and a mutual cousin told me that the family was not worried. They knew something the rest of us didn't know.
