Reds fans don't really show up to gabp either..its sad, they have a good team and you'll still find sections completely empty.

Yeah definitely would not put Reds fans up there with Cardinal fans. But the Cincy is definitely a Reds town. The team averaged more than 27k per game last season. That's middle of the pack in baseball. Not great, but not terrible either. I'd be inclined to bet that the number will edge up a little closer to 30k a game next season

Cincy is a solid town for baseball. They know the Reds and support them. But St. Louis is probably #1 in the MLB...at least in the convo. Cincy isnt.

I'm a fan of all professional teams in Pittsburgh (yes, even the Pirates) and have been all my life. My first professional game was a Pirates game when I was 7. Willie Stargell hit an upper deck homer at 3-Rivers and he was my favorite player of all time (still is). One of my earliest memories is sitting in the back seat of our car, driving through the Fort Pitt tunnel and seeing the city appear before my eyes. It stuck with me.

If that makes me a redneck bandwagoner, then go fuck yourself.

What's the deal with Cleveland guys running around calling everybody bandwagon fans tonight?

I believe the Bengals had a streak of 40 something straight games sold out from 2005 to whenever, so it's been shown that when the Bengals are winning the fans will come, but I think after last year with Chad and Carson, and then bringing back Marvin Lewis(which I was 100% for, even though most people I know hated it), a lot of fans said they were done with the Bengals. The Marvin Lewis thing just blows my mind, because while I don't think he's an upper echelon(top 5) coach, I don't think the Bengals can do much better than him. He brought the team from nothing to division champs, then dismantled the team and did it again. It's a joke that more people don't go to the games, even though the bars in Cincinnati are packed on Sundays(when they're out of town or on the rare occasion they're sold out) and based on my Facebook feed there's a ton of people watching/listening. It's one thing if they suck and the fans want to protest the ownership, but it's another when they're actually winning and fans still don't come out. The players and coaches deserve much better than what they are getting. I can't afford season tickets, and also I love sitting on my couch watching Redzone, so that's why I don't go to more games, but honestly I don't get why there isn't more support than there is.

Well said. I went to handful of Reds games this year, but didn't get to go to a Bengal game this year. Living close to Athens, it is a haul to get out to Cincy. If I was in town, I would go to at least 3-4 games a year

Also, Cleveland fans who root for the Indians and rip on Bengals fans are hypocrites IMO. It might be unfair to compare different sports, but Cleveland has struggled with attendance for the Indians as well and complain about their ownership. It's a similar situation albeit with difference sports. I'm not taking away from the Bengals attendance issues as they are a joke, but to act like Cleveland fans are the most loyal fans ever is ridiculous, even though they obviously support the Browns no matter what, which I applaud.

Yeah the different sports is kinda hard to compare and I don't begrudge anyone for not going to games, it's easy to drop 4 bills in a trip...I can't do it very often, once, twice a year max.

I assume jordo is speaking about me because everyone else has already been on board speaking about bandwagoners, I rarely have so...just relating how it was for me in the 70's seeing a bunch of 12 year olds changing teams when the steelers won a few, sorry it hurt your feelings.

As long as you stick to one city for all sports, it's not too bad. It's the Steelers/Yankees, Cowboys/Lakers, etc. combinations that make you a low life.

This includes people that are Duke Basketball/OSU football fans and other college combos too.

The definition of "bandwagon" is someone who constantly changes their loyalty to teams that are winning, not someone who's been a fan of a same city's teams for for 20, 30, or 40 years, but that fact continuously goes over some peoples heads. And on this site it comes from the same Cleveland fans, time and time again.

The difference is, I've been suffering with the Pirates for 20 years now, and still am, and still probably will be for the next 20. During that time I didn't feel the need to call Indian fans bandwagoners during the 90's (although where are they all now), nor Cavs fans bandwagoners (during the LBJ years, and we'll see how filled the Q is over the next few years). The insecurity of some of these posters is almost laughable if it wasn't so pathetic.

Why the resentment over who likes who? Especially when you've been a fan of that team (or in my case, city) since you can remember and it's been the only team (or city) you've ever rooted for?

I generally agree with this, but I would never just randomly rip someone for that. The problem I have is if someone is a Duke basketball/USC football fan, or UK basketball-LSU football fan and proceed to talk to me about how each team is better than Ohio State's basketball and football team respectively. I don't have any respect for anyone who does that because it's a lot easier to root for winners at 2 schools than to just stick with one school in both and hope they're good.

Speaking only for myself, I can't stand disloyalty and witnessing it as a kid really pissed me off, I guess because they only changed to be on the winning side and have the rubbing it in your face rights associated with 12 year old behavior. Lifers I got no beef with, but when someone says "well I used to like...." the sound of the Family Feud wrong answer buzzer goes off in my head.
