we need wk.1 and and wk.5 new opp's, does anyone who they mite be

10 cup cake wins and then a beat down come playoff time just like every other year.

I have heard Dover may open with Morgantown, WV or Saginaw, MI in week 1. Still haven't heard any possible replacements for the week 5 opponent.

I heard the opener would be a Cleveland team that made the playoffs last year either Shaw or J.F.K.

Not easy to find a week 5 opponent and we need it to be home just to have 5 home games.

Our opener will be Shaw,made the d2 playoffs last season,I can see them creating some problems on sheer athletic ability. I have no idea what they have returning.

as in your little division who cannot beat the teams from other regions. I went to a school who played Dover all the time and who made the playoffs too. The group where they start at is no where near the talent of the rest of the state come playoff time IMO.

Shaw won a game in the DII Region 6 playoffs. Their only other win against a team w/ a winning record was against a D5 sized school from Michigan.
Shaw went 7-3 record in 2010 and missed the playoffs in Division 1 Region 1
Shaw went 6-2-1 in 2009 and missed the playoffs in Division 1 Region 1

They are in the Lake Erie League which has a bunch of smaller D1 and bigger D2 schools. Looks like in the last 3 years they are beating the bad teams in their conference but struggling against the better teams like Maple Heights. I'd say it is a game that if Dover plays well they should win, but Shaw will probably have the athletes to make it interesting. Also, I have no idea what they return, just looking at what they have done the last 3 years. The fact that they did win a game in the playoffs last year tells me that if they return much from that team week 1 should be a lot more interesting than it has been the last couple of years.

Assuming Doverbuck is correct, the schedule looks like this(still waiting to hear who week 5 opponent is):

Week 1 - vs East Cleveland Shaw Cardinals (D2 R6)
Week 2 - @ Ashland Arrows (D2 R7)
Week 3 - vs Canfield Cardinals (D2 R5)
Week 4 - @ Tri Valley Scotties (D2 R7)
Week 5 - UNKNOWN
Week 6 - @ Claymont Mustangs (D3 R11)
Week 7 - vs Zanesville Blue Devils (D2 R7)
Week 8 - @ Cambridge Bobcats (D3 R11)
Week 9 - vs Marietta Tigers (D2 R7)
Week 10 - @ New Philadelphia Quakers (D2 R5)

That schedule includes:
7 Division II schools (4 made the playoffs. Zanesville and Canfield missed w/ winning records.)
2 Division III schools (both missed playoffs, but combined for 15 wins between the 2 of them)

Its not a complete meat grinder, but Dover has done a nice job of putting together a pretty competitive schedule to get the team prepared for the D3 R11 playoffs.

I'd like to see Dover play my boys from Steubenville in the regular season, but I know it will never happen. Every time Big Red and Dover play, I bet my cousin on the game. His name is Dr. Keith McFarland and some of you may remember him. He is probably the most distinguished graduate Dover High School ever had. Keith is the recently retired president of Texas A&M University at Commerce. Anyway, Keith is still cackling over Dover's wiin over Big Red in 2010.

That's a pretty ignorant post.

Uh, the winner of region 11 won the state championship last year. Region 11 is easily the best pound for pound region in the state (more teams with a 15+ average than all regions except 3). Just some programs that are consistently in region 11.
