You can see the real class of posters on this thread. I give an opinion on a rule that 40% people agree with me on........but yet I get bashed, called a bunch of names, have a lot of religious jokes said about me........all for having an opinion. What an amazing group of posters!!!!!!!

Well I for one have nothing against you..and I never said anything to bash you or your opinion..ever. But..let's not pretend that the ones that are bashing you stems from just this thread alone. It goes clear back to the other site.

This is what I was going to say, but I figured I would let you say it. But I'll make a cliff notes version..

This is not a high school site. This is a general chat forum with many sport subforums. This site was not intended to replace JJhuddle, it was made to give people a place to go when JJ started charging for general BSing.

I want people to stay and I want the forum to grow, but if you are looking for a HS sports forum, Yappi may be your place, not here.

36% agree with you, and that isn't even close to being able to pull the "why you pickin on me, I was right see?" card.

Well, to be technical, 19 people out of a group of (at the time) 48 who have cared enough to click either "yes" or "no" have agreed with you. Which is a BIG difference than saying 40% agree.

I personally look at this site's membership overall as sort of a bell curve. With relaxed rules regarding profanity and pic posting, you'll have a vast majority of people who may post risque pictures or occasionally use the occasional "shit" or "bastard" (or may not, but don't have any issues with those who do). On one end, you'll have a minority of posters who will try to push the envelope as far as they can to see what they can get away with. On the other end, you'll have another minority who'd prefer more of a zero tolerance rule for language and content, which is where you seem to be. And therein lies my problem with your complaint as a whole, in that you looks to me more like you don't want to see any profanity and your dispute of Rule 3 being followed stems from having a far lower thrashhold for how much is excessive. While from my viewpoint, the rule is generally followed well, although there are a few people who curse in posts to a bit of an excessive level.

there are 1588 active members on this website. 54 people have voted. 1% of the website agrees with you. Like I said, any way you want to play this game, the "everyone agrees with me so I'm right" bullshit doesn't cut it.

:rolleyes:That aint how it works, but nice spin to it.

Some people are just afraid to post their opinions like I said, but they evidently vote. Everyone at the beginning of this topic was acting like I was alone. It shows Im not. I think the owner or mods should take this in consideration.

And they should either eliminate swearing (or excessive swearing or the vulgar swear words), or do away with the rule totally (except for nudity part, since its supposedly not on here and not allowing swear words in topic names), or do away with any "almost" nudity, all cussing.....etc. Rule #3 shouldnt be on the rule list if there are ways around it or if the only "1" mod cant keep an eye on this site. Either make something firm, or not at all.

Or you can quit your bitching and go somewhere else if you don't like it.

And I am not putting a spin on it, I'm sure there are plenty of people on here that couldn't care less. Also, it's pretty funny how you think you know how the rule is being enforced. You don't see the mod logs, there is PLENTY of enforcement.

Well I hope ""PLENTY"" of enforcement is going on, but I havent seen it.

And those people can go elsewhere if they don't like it. Should 45% of voters be ignored? Yes. This isn't a high school sports site, this isn't JJhuddle, this isn't a christian site. This is a general chat forum with lax rules.

BTW, there are over 1900 actions on the moderator logs. I would hope that fits your definition of "plenty". You know what, voice your opinion, but don't try to force others to do what you want, because you see, you have options on other websites where you can go, if you don't like it here. My suggestion to you is, either suck it up, quit bitching and stay, or go somewhere else.

It's stupid, because Justin has said he isn;t changing it, the moderators of this site do not want it changed. Just because a few people keep bitching, telling others they are better than they are because of how they talk, it's ridiculous.

Justin is paying for this website out of his own pocket AT A LOSS, so my suggestion to people is, either like it, or leave.

Oh, since you dont belong in the 45%, the 45% dont matter. I see how it works. And why do you think me or others will take your word on what Justin or other mods supposedly say?
And I never once said Im better than anyone because of how I talk. Im just saying the cussing, using f bombs in every post, is not needed. Plenty of sites work perfectly fine without swearing, so its NOT going to hurt this site.

Well, #1 I am a moderator
#2, Justin said it himself, in this thread, if you would have read it
justincredible wrote:
Sure, some people might find this board offensive and I for that I apologize. Like someone said, you cannot please everyone. I am not going to start locking this place down like they did at JJ's. Sure, some people might take rule #3 a little far with their cursing. For the most part people follow it pretty well and I appreciate that. I think it is (generally) pretty clear what the content of a thread is going to be based on the title ("boobs","booty", etc). The simple solution is to obviously ignore the ones you have no interest in. I'll look into seeing if there is a way that I can have people set up individual filters to block the swearing individually but I can't promise anything. I've also got the option of creating a "safer" general forum for people but I can guarantee that it'll be slow.

And plenty of sites work just fine WITH swearing, and stuff MUCH worse than what goes on here.

well, justin probably didnt know that over 45% dont think the rule has been followed. The % has changed drastically since the poll started (in which I didnt put up a poll, someone else must be trying to get feedback). This site wont become a JJ site by eliminating swearing......just sayin'
If you want to keep the rule, at least change the wording on it, since it has loopholes, or enforce the rule, or make a complete new rule.

And btw, who put up the poll anyways?

It's not because the opinion of the minority or majority. The rules were set up by those in charge. It is how we like the place and want to run it (most specifically Justin). So therefore you can either accept it or leave. You're not going to change his mind. You don't pay anything to post here. If he charged you money to post, you would most definitely have more of a say.

And why would you take his word? Because if he was misrepresenting the rest of us then we'd come on here and correct him; that's not too hard of an assumption to make.

This isn't JJHuddle. We aren't modeling our rules or how we moderate after them. We believe they ran that site poorly regarding the rules and moderation. Sorry, but we aren't going to ban people because their opinion is frustrating people and contrary to the status quo. We aren't going to put in a ban filter and keep adding words each time people think of some new and original way to make fun of people or show displeasure.

catsgonewild,

I'd suggest that we've exhausted our opinion. I spoke with a few people who turned me on to this site today and they all agree.

It had a great idea and should have been a fun place for most of JJ's folks to come to, instead, they've allowed for more lax on the rules and that will turn away some (who haven't returned, and now me).

I know, I know, you don't have to say it folks. I won't let the door hit me where the good Lord split me.

catsgonewild, come over to our message board at www.ohsn.org. We are slow and there are filters on most of the words.

By the way, the voting above doesn't determine how many people think that it should be allowed, it asks if the rule is being followed.

Obviously it isn't. Just read the few that have been posted around this topic that just stop in to irritate others by dropping the f bomb, etc.
