Unless somebody has the balls to challenge the NCAA on this kind of stuff, we will continue to get this uneven, heavy handed enforcement of the NCAA's bloated 400 page rulebook.....Dirty programs will skate, and the ones who try to comply will get f**ked.
I think the reason that they are not going to appeal and just move on from here is that there is more to the story that has not yet come out. It went higher than Tressel, more heads would roll and more embarrasment for the University (as well as Gee and Smith) if they keep picking at the scab.
IMO, they (Gee and, more so Smith) are 'happy' with the penalty as it sits as it could be alot worse if 'the rest of the story' was told.
