After 35 years as head coach, Smithvilles' Keith Schrock is forced out!!! Shame on the administration! Coach Schrock is the winningset coach in Wanye County history! a member of the Ohio Coaches Hall of Fame! and this is how he is treated!!! I am a long time Smithville fan and have known coach Schrock for 40years. I cannot find the words to tell you what a great person he is! I am so MAD, I just want to hit something! Smithville fans, make your voice heard! The administration is going to get an earfull!!!!!

Dorksen is reporting it on Twitter as fact.

Wonder if Smithville was/is worried about losing a certain assistant to another local coaching opening so they made a hasty decision?

Tough to be forced out after claiming a share of the WCAL and beating the state champs.

All good things come to an end! I think this is B. Besancon's team now and yes RR1, I think the Smithville admins knew that Brent would put his name in the Wooster opening!

For everyone who thinks that there is an heir to the throne at Smithville and that the job has already been decided are honestly crazy. If an assistant out there like Von Schrock or Jason Haley or Adam Indorf wanted their first head coaching job, I guarantee they would recieve just as serious of consideration as Brent Besancon. This administration obviously owes nobody anything. They will hire who they want, not who the community feels should get the job.

Similar to Modell firing Paul Brown.

Hope this comes back to bite them when Besancon leaves after a couple of years just like he has everywhere else he has coached.

Besancon won't leave if he gets the job. He came back to Smithville this year because of the possibility that Schrock may retire. He is in it for the long haul I believe.

i agree old rider.. besancon's heart will always be in smithville and i think he if gets the opportunity to be the head coach for the smithies, he will stay there the rest of his coaching career. Sad to see the godfather forced out like that. He will always be the first name you hear when you talk about wcal football.

Wow....strange situation here....on one hand he should be able to leave on his own terms, on the othern hand the school dosen't want a Paterno situation where the coach in waiting finally gives up and does something else.

You would like to think he would have seen the situation and gracefully stepped aside.

Guess not...I think the school didn't have much choice.

Heard this last night from a fellow poster.....couldn't believe it, but then again I could. Schrock has built Smithville football and put it on the map in small school football in the state of Ohio. He's a hall of fame coach who after having a great 2011 season, like all coaches couldn't wait for the next season....unfortunately with him not being a teacher anymore the school board has a little more control over him than most realize.

I think the administration needs to open a statewide search and get some new blood in the green and white, instead of just handing over the job to an assistant. This has really been an interesting offseason and we are only a few weeks into it.

Considering Frank Besancon is on the school board I'd be shocked if they give it to anyone other than Coach B.

This isn't the first time the administration has tried to mess with the football team. My senior year Manard Yoh and Gary Whitaker tried to mess with us in the middle of our playoff run. They didn't last too long at Smithville.

Right now there isn't anything we can do but let everything run it's course. In the end those who are responsible for this will get what they deserve.

I'm certainly not trying to cause trouble and I'm just stating what I've been hearing. I spoke with at least 6 Smithville friends today and they all agreed that this is what the majority of Smithville people want. All of them said that almost every they know wants Schrock out. I actually have been hearing this for 3 years. I'm just sayin. All the Smithies I know are not unhappy with this

Just a reminder to the school board/administration, they are elected by the community...so the community will eventually have a say.

I just received some interesting information to ponder...

Before the beginning of the school year, the same administration fired a secretary who had been at the school for a long, long time for reasons that were deemed to be bogus or heinous. My source also says that a very well-known alum graduated this past spring and was encouraged by school employees to come back and apply for a job opening only to be declined and told to wait for a future opening. Additionally, Sam Sayre (owner of Sam's Pizza and also a volunteer football coach for many years) used to always supply pizza to the school once a week. I've been told that he was supplanted of that duty this year as the school decided to go to a different franchise to supply the school's pizza.

After hearing this, it almost seems like the current RULERS of the school district are trying to clean house and bring in outside blood. I never really thought Smithville was that bad... Guess the knew administration has superior intelligence than the rest of us?
