There was definitely some people who thought there was no real difference maker in this draft. There were comments about how the Cavs unfortunately got the #1 pick in such a weak draft, etc..
As far as Derrick Williams, let's just say I'm glad we didn't pick him.
He's seemed like he's really struggling to adapt. He's not able to attack the basket like he was in college because he doesn't have the handles or the quick first step to beat an NBA SF off the dribble. Defenses are forcing him to be a spot up jump shooter and he's struggled in that regard as well. Most of his stuff has come from garbage baskets. He hasn't really gotten many shots off in general.
I don't disagree that it was a weak class, but I definitely think a few players have serious staying power and a couple will likely be franchise cornerstones.

Now I fully expect DWill to drop 30 on the Cavs when they play coming up...

As far as the draft goes, give me Jeremy Lamb. Dude can stroke it and has surprising ups.

Thirded. My draft wishes in order right now would be
1. J-Lamb
2. Barnes
3. MKG
4. Perry Jones
5. John Jenkins (not a lottery pick, but a sweet stroke if we could move up into the late 1st round)
Basically I want to add a 2/3, and ideally someone who has a natural scoring talent to ease the burden on Kyrie going forward.

I agree with that.
I think the Cavs will be able to move Jamison and Sessions, hopefully getting us some more picks.

I'm not a perry jones fan. Seen him play 4 times already and every time come away unimpressed. I find myself having to double check and make sure he's still in he game.

There are definitely others I would prefer in this draft over Jones III, but I have thought he has looked much better this year than last. You can tell he is much more comfortable playing the wing than in the post. Plus playing without that gunner of a PG, LaceDarius Dunn, he is getting more looks. If the Cavs get one of the top 2 picks, its going to be hard to pass on a potential game changing Big like Drummond or Davis. Really, I think there are 5-7 wing players that would be great additions in this draft.Commander of Awesome;1040875 wrote:I'm not a perry jones fan. Count me in as one of the people not overly impressed with Perry Jones

He has the most potential in the draft and as much current skill as anyone in my opinion. He's just too passive/unselfish at times. From a couple of days ago:
"He's struggled a bit the past few games, but I think it's a function of Baylor's offense.,” one GM said. “He feels the need to get the ball at the top of the key and try to create for himself, in part because his guards just don't give him the ball in a position to score very often."
Jones is averaging 13.1 points on 57.6 percent true shooting.
“In the right system, I think he's a monster,” the exec added. “He's a good kid; he's got a good work ethic; and he's as talented as anyone in the draft. He gets a good team, a good point guard and the right coach, and he could be a superstar."

Just went to NBADraft.net to see their latest mock, they have the Cavs picking William Buford at #21. Please don't let this team win enough to be drafting 21st this summer.

If they finish somewhere around 6-10 in the draft lottery, they will have the following 2/3's to look at:
Perry Jones III - Tremendous size/length. Great ball handling skills for a guy his size. Huge upside. Biggest question marks are his passion/aggression to take over games and can he defend NBA wings.
Bradley Beal - Definitely a 2. A little undersized, but has a great stroke to NBA 3-point range. Good build to make up for lack of height for a 2. A little like Eric Gordon, except he has 2 guards playing w/ him at Florida that aren't big fans of passing the basketball so his #'s aren't going to be that flashy.
Michael Kidd-Gilchrist - great defender and athlete. Great size, could defend either the 2 or 3. Needs to continue to improve outside shot, but great slasher and a beast in transition. Really like his attitude, think he would fit in great w/ this roster.
Austin Rivers - Tremendous at getting to the basket, has been compared to D-Wade in that aspect of his game. Is a streaky shooter, but has NBA 3 point range. Needs to be more willing to play off the ball, keep the offense moving. Prone to just dribble out shot clock and go 1-on-1. A little undersized for an NBA wing. Good athlete but not great. Reminds me a lot of OJ Mayo, but could be a star if he learns to play within the offense.
Terrence Ross - I really haven't seen this kid play. I will have to be sure to catch some Washington games. Anyone have any insight on his game?
Obviously, Lamb (UConn) and Barnes are the top 2 wing prospects in this draft and will probably be off the board by #5.

I've seen Washington play twice (Marquette and Duke) this year and was moderately impressed by Ross. Good athlete and a good shooter. Kind of seemed like a chucker and a pretty bad defender. Never really noticed him last year.
I like the freshman guard for Washington (Tony Wroten) a lot. I actually think he's the better player, but he's more of a PG than a wing.

Alonzo Gee is so improved. I think he's going to be a very good bench player.

I do as well. Last season he was mainly a slasher and dunker, but brought solid defense. Offensively, as I mentioned, he was a one trick pony.Pick6;1041576 wrote:I like Gee a lot.
