So Saturday night I watched my future brother in laws daughter for him while he and his wife went to a work Christmas party. I had to go over to their house to pick her up b/c they were running late (half hour each way) and feed her b/c they didn't get around to dinner yet. Their older daughter was at a birthday party. She was bored and wanted to come home and I had to go pick her up too since they were in Cleveland (half hour each way). So before I agreed to this, they said it was just dinner and whatever and would pick her up by 10. I get a text at 10 saying they're leaving now. He shows up at a quarter after midnight. His reasoning was b/c his wife was tired and wanted to be taken home first so she could go to bed.. yes i know the feeling. Now he text me tonight and says "dude, the wii remotes don't work.. the girls said they spilled pop on it.. I don't let them drink pop around it for this reason.. you owe me 2 controllers"

lol wtf?????!!! I owe YOU two controllers b/c YOUR daughters spilled pop lol.
I text "I don't think so lol" and didn't respond the rest of the night. Their mother shortly texts me and asks whats going on and I tell her and she's taking her sons side lol. Luckily my fiancee told them they're ridiculous and not getting money and to leave me alone. This is a guy who my fiancee buys their school clothes and majority of Christmas presents b/c doucher took a job that pays half as much b/c he couldn't handle the stress... and now he wants two wii remotes?.. GTFOOH.

Uh trust me, I know. Her father had his 60th birthday party and her mother asked if I could cover the catering. When my fiancée asked her why would I pay for it, she said well he has a better job than your brother. Her sisters husband makes a few mil a year as an attorney in DC. I now know why he has nothing to do with them.

Break off the engagement. When you marry her, you marry her family. Eventually if you do not get along with the in-laws it will negatively effect the relationship you have with your wife, especially when children come along.

From what you have said, you are in the right and he is in the wrong. If they didn't want the kids drinking pop around the controllers they should have mentioned that. Sounds like her family is a bunch of creeps, which leads me to believe that you haven't met the real her. Most men don't see who their fiancee is until they get married. Then shit changes.

Her sister already has nothing to do with the family. If she didn't worry her nieces were doing without, she wouldn't either. I thought it was odd that she never wanted to be with her family for holidays and always went to mine. Now I see why. We've spent more time with her sister in DC than her family here.

Sounds like it is a dysfunctional family. One sister has nothing to do with the family? Even if your family is a bunch of douches like this family sounds, it is still your family. I don't know man. I wish you luck, but it doesn't sound good to me. Of course I am a total pessimist, so take it for what it is worth.

Her brother is a slacker and her mother thinks he walks on water. He's been enabled his whole life and there's a lot of family resentment.

ie: his mother purchases his cars and covers mortgage and whatever he is late on.

Is her father a POS too or is he okay?

He's a great guy, but doesn't have a voice. He lets her mother do whatever.

I should rephrase. Her sister has nothing to do with her mother or brother. She flys her father in for fathers day and shit like that. She has shunned her mother though.

Ok, maybe not as bad as I originally thought. This is one case in which you should hope the girl does not turn into her mother.

That just sounds awful. I'd probably let them know right off the bat you're not going to put up with their bullshit and that they can piss off if they have a problem with it.

Luckily for me, her sister basically raised her (she's 15 years older than her) bc her mother was too busy with her career and keeping their brother out of trouble. She's close with her sister obviously.

Her mother knows where I stand with her and she pretty well hates me. We're paying for the wedding ourselves ( a little help from my parents) bc she's mad that when she called me and her daughter cheap, I said no we just don't feel obligated to support your son like you do. Ever since then the talking has been minimal.

** the premise of said conversation was her brother tried to get us to buy shitty insurance off him that was nearly twice what I pay and her mother thought I should bc he's family.

Cut and run The first 5 years of our marrage we told the relative who, what and when we would be coming to the holiday events and we flat out refused to visit anyone .. Our ball and our field We picked the players we wanted to be around.

Good. Fuck her, sounds like you have handled it as well as possible, given the circumstances.
