Holmgren is a big part of the problem! Shurmur is the worst coach in the NFL. Why do we continue to replace bad coaches with worse ones?

Yes please fire the coach again, get rid of the front office, start over again!!!!

Some of you need to take a step back off that ledge and give this regime more than 2 drafts. They haven't even started to add players through free agency yet, don't appear to have a QB to go forward with. Do I love the play calling? No, but obviously Shurmur isn't overly excited about the idea of letting Colt McCoy or Seneca Wallace drop back and throw the ball down the field, can you really blame him?

Holmgren gets more credit than he deserves. His personel moves were suspect at best in Seattle. He gave up a lot to get guys like Deion Branch and a few others while letting Steve Hutchinson walk after they came off a year where they pretty much won a superbowl. He is a great head coach, but his other decisions are iffy.

Couldnt disagree with you more. Why not try to run your offense with a little over a minute to play instead of running Hillis on First and Second down? Is he trying to uphold their great record? He is a joke of a coach and I find it funny that the players call Holmgren Coach and call Shurmur Pat. Nobody likes playing for the guy. Get us a coach that has won something (Gruden, Billick, someone!)

I have no idea what Holmgren sees in Shurmur. Week after week, even the announcers rip on his play calling.

His playcalling was suspect with St Louis as well. I don't like him at all...but they at least need to bring in an OC. He obviously is in over his head being the HC and the OC.

Like I said, haven't been a fan of his play calling. I would be in favor of bringing in an OC to call the plays. But I like what Jauron has done with the defense. I think they are another DE away from have a very good DL. I don't think it would be a good idea to get rid of the head coach after one season. I mean really, the front office didn't give these guys much of a chance this year. They added the guys through the draft, but didn't bring in anyone in free agency. It was pretty obvious they weren't going all in to win this year, but to find out what they had at some positions. Now if we are at this same point next year, then yes it would be time to make some changes.

Edit: The only way I'd support a coaching change this offseason is if Holmgren would be coming down out of his office to be the head coach, or they somehow would get a guy like Gruden, which I can't see happening.

Shurmur leaves an anemic offense in St. Louis and after the better part of one season, the offense in St. Louis hasn't changed one little bit. Meanwhile, the offense in Cleveland is hell-bent on running dink passes designed to protect fragile quarterbacks from standing in the pocket and throwing downfield.

My wish for the offseason:

1. Bring in a dynamic OC who has a vision of how great teams attack the defense (you'll note I said "attack the defense", something Cleveland hasn't done since Kosar left).

2. Draft a quarterback who has a pair between his legs and a brain inside his skull. You'll never win in the NFL with pansies taking the snap.

3. Pay attention to the O-line. Draft picks like Joe Thomas shouldn't be a once-in-a-generation irregularity. Do your homework and bring in some guys who can block and offer pass protection. If you can't get them through the draft, either trade for them or offer big-time money through free agency.

I know he went out with Crennel but it's a shame that Chudzinski wasn't the caliber of an OC that he is now. We had a good year with him as OC but what he's done to the Panthers offense is nothing short of amazing. He's going to earn himself a head coaching gig in the next few years, if not next year.

May have been mentioned but after what I saw yesterday, I firmly believe that Shurmur was playing for a draft pick so he could get "his guy" at QB.

Interesting scenario with the Colts win yesterday. If the Colts pull out a win against JAX and St Louis loses out they both finish 2-14. Who gets the first pick on strength of schedule? If the Rams pick #1 they will have a dilemma with Luck & Bradford. Could be advantageous to the Browns.

Couldn't get on here all weekend as my computer has a virus that my computer guy at work is now trying to fix.

You are confusing Shurmur's incompetence with a plan. He doesn't have one, what you saw out there was the continued confirmation of my claim that he is what we thought he was: in way over his head.

I've seen the same bad play calling all season.

The thing that pissed me off with the playcalling yesterday was all the draw/screen plays Patty Shurfail was calling. We simply just can't run that play successfully consistently. It seems more than 50% of the time our screen plays are blown up and don't gain any yardage. As for the draw play play, that play just doesn't work in the NFL period.

I don't agree with the "playing for a draft pick to get his guy at QB". No NFL coach would do that.

Also think that Josh Cribbs has become obsolete as a Brown.

This became pretty apparent last season. Moving the kickoff up was just the final nail in the coffin imo.

I think Skrine can handle the kick return duties. Much more explosive. Cribbs is nothing more than a gunner on kick/punt coverage, imo. Brings nothing at the WR position and his best return days are gone.

So he goes from "just pay him the money" to "obsolete" in 1 year? Good thing they signed him to a 3yr 20 million dollar deal then.

Disagree, have you not watched him this season? He's lost 2 steps.
