Who will end the year with a higher national ranking...Basketball or wrestling?

It could be very interesting to follow this year.

Right now thew Buckeyes are 7th in wrestling but.....sleeper will love this.....the big 10 is loaded as usual and by far the toughest conference in the country.

I don't know anything about college wrestling, but I would imagine that the basketball team ends up in the top 3.

I'd say basketball. I don't follow wrestling at all. But doesn't Iowa just own everyone?

Iowa. O.K. That's one team. Who else you got ahead of the Buckeyes? Cornell? Penn State? Oklahoma State? It would take more than one team to keep the wrestling Buckeyes below the Basketball Buckeyes at season end unless you believe the basketball Buckeyes will win the national championship.

The point being both sports have a chance to finish the year very high nationally. The Wrestling Buckeyes have now moved up to 6th. It will be interesting to see who finishes higher.
1 Iowa
2 Oklahoma State
3 Penn State
4 Minnesota
5 Cornell
6 Ohio State

Why will it be interesting?

I fail to see why this correlates into anything worthy of discussion.

Are you just trying to generate discussion for the Wrestling team?

The men's Hockey team is also in the Top 5. They split with Miami this weekend so they should stay in the Top 8.

I find it interesting because it's impressive that both of these winter sports have the possibility of high national ranking. That's all.

I am not necessarily trying to generate discussion "for" the wrestling team. There are only a few people on here that understand *them. There are other sites to do that on.

According to Tiger, with hockey in the top 5 also, it's an impressive display by the school.

Why go out of your way to be a dick? If you're not interested, why respond?

This.

The way I see it is the BBall team has a shot to win the national championship. The wrestling team does not. Therefore I give the nod to the basketball team.

I hope the wrestling program does well....I'm just not sure how good they are. Saw in today's paper that they beat Kent State 27-15......

Kent State...only 27-15????

How good can they be??

Kent State vs. Ohio State was a marquee matchup. Kent is ranked 20th.

The following Golden Flashes are nationally ranked:

15 Brendan Barlow - heavy weight

13 Tyler Small - 141lbs

2 Nic Bedelyon - 125lbs

Kent St is no joke. Just last year they earned their first ever National Champion with Dustin Kilgore. Kilgore is red-shirting this season, as he attempts to join the United States Olympic team for the London Olympics.

Look, its no surprise Ohio State has great teams in a multitude of sports.

It's also no surprise the B1G is the head of the pack in 99% of sports.

No one suggested it was a surprise. That's not the point of the thread.

Got a guess to the question asked?

Speaking of the hockey team, anybody plan on going to the OSU-Michigan winter classic at Progressive Field?

Ohio State basketball will finish ahead of Ohio State wrestling. Book it!

Here is an intereseting fact: Ohio State basketball has a schedule strength of 103. Why such a soft schedule? Also their RPI ranking is 26th, Stop scheduling teams like USC Upstate and start scheduling teams like USC!

You're right. Ohio State should probably try to avoid playing teams they beat by 20+, seeing as they are definitely shitty teams.

Every team Ohio State has beaten this year as been a creampuff. Wait until Big Ten play. That is the best basketball in the nation.

...and the best wrestling. Second would be the EWIA followed by the Big 12.

It's what makes make my question interesting in my mind.

I will follow this throughout the year along with OSU Hockey.

I'd love to see Tom Ryan lead the Buckeyes to a national title.

Because Southern California is terrible at basketball. Every once in a while, they will land good recruits due to some shady recruiting practices. However, one cannot build a team like that unless your name is Calipari. :o

How about scheduling more of the in-state teams or teams from Indiana? The basketball played in those two states are at a much higher level than South Carolina.

You and me both. He's a great guy. The Buckeyes don't have the upper weights to do it this year but the lower weights are as good as anybody in the country and they are young.
