So they are adding a bunch of mid major teams in hopes of staying a major conference?

I don't think those teams help them keep their automatic bid. In addition it just further dilutes their basketball glory (although that ship has probably sailed too). How soon till the Big East is just a glorified mid-major conference?

They are mid-major teams now, but their locations and recruiting bases are anything but. They all have some serious potential to do great things.

I'll take Boise over WVU, Houston over Pitt, and anyone over syracuse in football any day. Navy and Air Force will be next to the party

meeeeeeeeeeeeeh

San Diego has to compete with UCLA, USC, Stanford, Oregon, and Washington

Boise.... wel they are in Boise

SMU competes with Texas, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, A&M, Texas Tech, Arkansas and Houston

Houston ditto above

UCF competes with UF, FSU and Miami plus the other schools that come into Florida.

I really don't see any of those teams going much beyond what they are now

People said that about UC when they joined the big east, but we've won 3 conference titles in 4 years. I know, I know its the big east, but people said the conference USA teams wouldn't be able to compete with the teams that were already in the Big East.

I never said anything about being able to compete with the already mediocre programs that are in the Big East. I just don't think it makes the Big East really any better

I agree..when those schools can tell their recruits they have AQ status now, they will only get better.

IN a recent radio interview posted on the USNA boards the AD stated that the Superintendent would have all the info regarding his evaluation of joining the BE and possibly make a decision in the next week.

All the top so called "Mid Major" teams are going to the BCS conferences because they are tired of getting screwed over by the system.
I love it and will look forward to a Boise St vs Utah or TCU NC game, maybe that will finally blow this system up and we get a playoff.

It's worse than that. The Big "East" had to add schools from all over the country to be a mid-major conference.

This will mean all the Big East athletic programs will lose money. Can't wait to see that Rutgers vs. Boise volleyball game on a Tuesday night.

Why would that blow up the system if the money remains in the BCS/AQ conferences?

I wonder if they will be more willing to settle with WVU now that they found teams to save the conference*

*By save the conference, I mean the equivalent to using duct tape to patch the Titanic.

The Coat and Tie BCS committee do not want those teams playing for the NC and will do everything in their power to stop it like they have been.
