Obviously the "every week is a playoff" isn't literal. But there
is plenty of interest in each week, even outside of one's own fandom because of how important it is for the top teams to continue winning, how a single loss can impact a team's title hopes, and speculation on what is going to happen as the season continues to unfold.
Every game
does count. You just want one game to count more than all of the others combined. Alabama's hopes might have been dashed after that loss to LSU. Oklahoma State could have kept winning. We didn't know whether they would or not, so we were interested. They didn't and it changed the whole outlook. Alabama could've lost to Auburn and changed it again. We didn't know whether they would or not (and before you talk about how everybody knew, everybody also knew Oklahoma State was going to beat Iowa State). They didn't lose and so, it has played out this way.
The end result not being what you wanted doesn't mean it wasn't fun getting there.
