After he officially threw his hat into the ring, ESPN announced that James, who had called college football games for the network, would not return to the airwaves.

Bill from Scout saying there's more to Rod Smith situation and wouldn't comment further, said OSU would have announcement....

Either grades, transfer or fumbled his ticket while boarding the plane....

I'm guessing he's transferring. I like rod smith. Has all the tools. But I don't think he wants to be a lb and I don't think he's gonna be a rb on that depth chart.

Major downside to Rod Smith situation is how it will affect his brother Jaylon.

The flight was three days ago. He couldn't arrange other transportation? It's definitely more than that.

Pretty sure if you miss it you'll be ponying up the fee yourself. Hell it might be an NCAA violation if he didn't.

flight, bus fare whatever to get his ass where he's supposed to be, but due to his circumstances (whatever that is) he's not.

Ok? They get a travel stipend of a set amount and can pocket whatever is left over after their travel is paid. If he missed his flight, he takes another one. Maybe I'm not understanding what you are saying, but he wouldn't have to pay any fees out of his own pocket to get to the bowl destination.

I don't know, honestly. I remember (I think) Pryor (somebody, MoC?) arrived late to a bowl game due a funeral or something and thought he was responsible for his own transport. The charter is paid for we know that but other instances I'm not sure of.

Eh, he's had grade issues in the past so it wouldn't surprise me if this was academic related. I find it hard to believe that because his alarm clock didn't go off he is not going to join his teammates in Orlando, Florida, for an expenses paid vacation from Ohio in December to play in a bowl game.

If I remember correctly, Clarett wanted osu to pay for his travel back home from AZ for the funeral and then back to AZ for the game. They couldn't do that.

Like I said, each player is given a travel stipend if they don't take the team charter. They can keep whatever money is left of the stipend after arrangements have been made.

and yeah, I don't buy it either, something isn't right, One thing is for sure given the situation there have to be 100 people working it to dig up any possible dirt so we'll know soon if there is anything behind it.

Losing Rod Smith won't matter. We could lose everyone on the team and still be better than any Independent school.

TE Jake Stoneburner had surgery on his knee a month ago and is likely to not play.

The Ohio State defense is top-heavy with Florida players. Both starting outside linebackers, junior Etienne Sabino of Miami and freshman Ryan Shazier of Plantation; junior cornerback Travis Howard of Miami; and junior safety Orhian Johnson of St. Petersburg are among the team leaders in almost every important defensive category.[LEFT]
On offense, center Mike Brewster of Orlando will make his 49th consecutive start Monday, the second-longest streak in team history.

[LEFT]Ohio State coaches say that a typical Florida player comes to college with experience, football savvy and most of all, speed.[LEFT]
