We had an extra team vying for the cellar this year (last year, it was just Rittman and Chippewa), but we also had an additional team make the playoffs this year. I think it was more polarized than normal (fewer "middle ground" teams), but all-in-all, I don't think it was down much.

Agree - plus I think the conference deserves some credit for one of it's own making a deep run. I think '02 and '11 were good/proud years for the conference just because of individual teams being in the final game - regardless of the records of the other conf. teams.

I guess it could be argued that the conference being weak a certain year could allow the better teams to be fresher and less likely to be banged up for the playoffs, but our WCAL teams making the playoffs and, especially, making a playoff run has to reflect well on the conference. It's unfortunate that it might be impossible for Northwestern and Norwayne to both make the second round this year since they are likely to play each other next week.

"its all over"...drum drum drum drum.."its all over"......I love that chant, its been done to us, and Norwayne kids have done it to other people, its what High School kids do.......get over it ya big baby.....

Um, I was a fan of the winning team ... I just prefer to see people win with class (like Smithville taking a knee on 4th and goal with 40 seconds left). And I know kids do it all the time, but I'd hardly use high school students as the plum line for what is classy or good sportsmanship. See "the video" from 2011.

I'll bet NW is hoping Norwayne end up 1st in region as if I were them, I sure as hell wouldn't want to play them again........

Eh, eventually you either play them, or you play the team that beat them.

I hate seeing local teams play in Week 11, I'd rather see two "new" teams and also have the chance for both to win.

I was walking to my car after waiting by the locker room, definitely the team busses. Band busses park near southwest gate. They gunned it too, sending lots of exhaust into a group of seniors waiting for the rest of the guys to come out.

It was mostly a good sportsmanship game. But, as you say, O, they are kids...the drivers and coaches however should know better.

I very much agree. Kids will be kids. I don't like it, but I'm sure I did it.

I agree, though. Adults should know better. If the bus driver did that, that was 100% inappropriate.

As a Husky fan, I can tell you I was impressed with Bobcat players and adult fans....kids will be kids and that is what high school is about. I was really impressed with not only the student section of the bobcats but the fans in the stands as well....they were extremely loud and had a great couple of chants.

Congratulations to the pick-em winners Panther22 and Jmar!
Since Red Rum and Miyagi took the prize money and spent it on ugly women and bad beer, I have come up with the following prize.
Would all those who participated in the pick-em please find a post by both the winners and give them a rep. It is the best (and cheapest) thing we can do.

Stay tuned, once the playoffs are set I will set up a playoff pick-em.

you cant do anything about bus drivers being immature and the band chanting "its all over". the guys played a good game on both sides. hated seein #4 go down with the leg injury from dalton. the players and coaches were good sports....even the fans for once. how much does the band know about respecting your oppenent really? they chanted its all over. good luck to the area teams in the post season. its a blast.

Hello Everyone

Been reading all season and just signed up

Congratulations to Norwayne on the WCAL Championship. Condolences to Waynedale on the winless season.

It's nice to see 3 teams in the playoffs.

I think Hillsdale got the best first round match in Oak Hill. IMO Oak Hill is the "weakest" of the top three in R19. Anyone know much about them?

I don't know a lot about Oak Hill but I do know they are normally a force in southern Ohio. I wouldn't take them lightly. Also a 3 plus hour drive won't help Hillsdale much.

Oak Hill had a tremendous performance in the state basketball tournament a few years ago. Same kid hit a deep 3 to send the game into OT, 2 OT, and won it in 3OT. They ended up winning the state championship.

Wait ... if you don't know much about them, how do you make the evaluation that they are weakest of the top three?

Not looking to argue. Just genuinely curious.

- Confused in Akron

#4 has torn meniscus, but should be ready for baseball, his next sport.
