Using the last enrollement numbers for the new Divisions:
Dalton D7
Hillsdale D6
Rittman D6
Chippewa D5
Smithville D5
Northwestern D5
Norwayne D5
Waynedale D5

The Riders would not get a break either, they would be under the D5 top by 2 boys and would be in D5 with most of the WCAL.

Shenanigans....this is competitive balance at its finest.

Fix the enrollment #'s at the top, but to hell with fixing the Parochial Powers at the opposite end of the spectrum.

Norwayne, Orrville and Chippwa drop to 5, Hillsdale drops to 6 and Dalton to 7. I guess thats good for them! Hillsdale and Dalton could make noise as well as Waynedale kicking everyones butt.

2007? Ursuline.

Bears hung around for a half...down 7-6....then you wife started singing...because it was over....have a nice day.

Edit: Did Hillsdale have football back then?

How many winning seasons has Northwestern had....EVER???

How many playoff appearances?

How many League Titles?

How long have they been "Northwestern"?

Thank You for your participation!

So the Bears were able to hang with not only a "power" but with "The Power " for at least a half. I am not sure a team that good should be allowed in the league, because we have no business playing teams that good!

Wooster or Northwestern is he knows anything at all about football, that's my guess.
I know Next to nothing about Wayne County football.

Hope this helps

First of all....
Living in Wayne County and knowing next to nothing is a punishable offense. Ts 1227, please give yourself a warning. (WCAL school ignorance)

Now, go ahead and give yourself a violation point (Failure to worship Orrville cannot be tolerated!!!)

I hate to do it, but...go ahead and ban yourself for a week (not knowing that failure to worship Orrville is not tolerated.........is totally inexcusable!)

Now that's taken care of....
back to the topic

WCAL vs PRIVATE SCHOOLS

Since 2001, the WCAL is 11-16 (.407) vs private schools.

Norwayne 3-5.....last game vs private (CVCA won 40-7 in 2011)
Hillsdale 0-2......last game vs private (Lima Cent Cath lost 19-28 in 2010)
Smithville 3-4.....(St Thomas Aquinas lost 14-31 in 2010)
Waynedale 1-2....(Ursuline lost 6-29 in 2007)
Northwestern 1-0...(Warren JFK won 28-13 in 2005)
Rittman 3-3.....(Tusky Cent Cath won 26-23 in 2006)

It doesn't appear that Dalton or Chippewa have played any private schools since 2001.

I guess I'm in the minority around here because I have no problem with the whole public/private issue. To be the best you have to beat the best and if that requires playing a private football factory...so be it.
case in point-
Norwayne won the state title last year and didn't even have to face a parochial.
Smithville beat 2 private schools before falling to a public school for the title in 2002

crying about competitive balance in a state that already has 6 (now 7) divisions is insane. If your team is good enough to win it...they will.

opinions?

no opinions...you are too simple to get it.

football/bb is diff than wrestling, but i will say...if Ursiline would of made it it in at 4-6. 5-5....they would have won the title...NOT Norwayne.

edit: Waynedale wrestlers were punished....lets see the same in football for mooney and ursiline.

I may be simple...but I have you figured out.....If my team wins....cry & moan, if my team loses...cry & moan.

Norwayne won the state title. period.
You can try to rewrite history all you want but it's not going to change!!!!

Oh brother....
Waynedale won the state title!!! and Beast is crying!..........I'm not surprised.

Edit for Beast: Huber beat a healthy Kikume 3 out of 4 times and won the state title on a bad knee. That hasn't changed either:laugh:

I'll help you out ts1227 with a little Wayne County football primer, I will be unbiased.

(Non-WCAL teams)

Wooster: The largest school in the county, has replaced long time coach and hopefully the traditional apathy of the fans/community will disappear with this new hire. Wooster has a great band, and they play every sport every created by man at that school which tends to water down or thin out the talent pool in each. A must see game every year is Wooster v. Orrville.

Orrville: A powerhouse team with a great play off tradition, great community support and three LB's now playing B1G football. They are fun to watch, and the posters on this site make me think of Stuebenville Jr.

Triway: Everyone hates Triway. Probably because their school colors are Purple and Silver. Had a nice three year play off run a couple of years ago, but have returned to their typical 2 or 3 win ways recently. With all the success the program had they were not able to parlay that into an increase in the participation level of student athletes.

(WCAL teams):

Chippewa: Not sure what goes on here, but winning one or two games is a successful season for the Chipps. It's a large school with talented athletes, but just can't find a formula that works on the football field. The fans/comunity kind of keep to themselves and you don't hear much from or about the team. Extended contract of currrent coach this past season and hopefully can become compeititve again.

Rittman: Probably the most frustrating team in the league. Just can't seem to get anything to go in their favor. Hired a veteran coach two seasons ago to turn things around after some brief (albeit talent based) success, and still the ship has sunk even further.

Norwayne: Current DIV State Champions. Fan base is excited to see if this program is at a level which can compete every year at the same level. Some say yes, some say no. Their play off run was an exciting time for all the locals. The real test will be to see what they can do without Wallace calling the shots.

Waynedale: Typically a top contender in the league, has suffered a little bit the past two seasons. Picked up some momentum at the end of last season, and will try to build on that this season. Having had the wrestling program win a state championship this year really puts pressure on the football team. The best part about the bares is apparently you can sit down with the coach and discuss his strategy if you know the right people to set it up.

Northwestern: Solid program, solid coach, great fans and incredible alumni. Made a nice run a few years ago but is also struggling to get back to the post season. Injuries killed them in 2011.

Smithville: Typical league powerhouse went through a bizarre off season where a long time coach was forced to retire, etc. etc. etc. Kids grow up dreaming of playing for the Smithies. The fanbase will approach this upcoming season with a new coach with some cautious optimisim.

Hillsdale: Not located in Wayne County, but still in the league because they were the league's doormat for years. Then someone woke a sleeping giant and that giant is pee'd off. Probably the best head coach and staff in the league. Not much inter action with the fans in the Wayne County area as they don't come around these parts often. Also have some fan with big butt bell who rings the crap out of it on third down. Amazing.

Dalton: The smallest school in the league, but don't tell the kids who play football, they all thing they play for St. Ed's. You'll never see anything like it until you see it. They will trot out a team with a roster of 23 kids and kick butt. Those kids are incredible over there. Think of the movie 300 when you thik about Dalton football.

Dalton admittedly is a sentimental favorite for me, as their current superintendent was my HS principal, and their current JH principal was my HS football coach.

Some complain when they lose to a private in the playoffs, and some complain how privates win more than their percentage of state titles. It seems to me that the publics that regularly play privates have regularly won in the playoffs and title games (ie: Marion Local and the rest of the MAC for that matter, and Big Red) I wonder what percentage of publics that win titles are ones that schedule privates?

Nice run down Ringz!
