My router finally crapped out so I went to Best Buy after work to get another. I saw one I liked and looked it up online for reviews and saw it at newegg for $69.99. It was $159.99 at Best Buy. WTF? I understand something being 10-20 dollars more, but nearly $100?

Kids spending their parents money and adults who don't know they can buy shit online are the only people who shop there.

I find it hard to believe. You might have been looking at the same company, but defiantly not the same router.

I never shop at big box retailers. I believe the story because Best Buy is the most expensive place to shop at vs. an online store.

I personally hope Best Buy goes out of business.

After working at Best Buy for a year I quickly realized how much shit was overrpriced compared to other retailers and online stores. One of the reasons I left that greedy company.

When I'm at a store for some reason, I scan stuff with my Amazon app on my phone and order it that way. No way I pay big box electronic store prices.

Employee discount is 5% above manufacturer cost. My old roommate who worked there bought me an hdmi cable that was being sold for $60 for $4.

Worked there while in college...the markup on some of the stuff is unreal. We used to take tags of items and scan them to see what the employee price would be. I'd say the norm was about $30-60 depending on the brand.

Let me tell you, hookers are way more expensive online. The affordable ones don't have internet access.

The other reason is that you were probably making $9 an hour.

The sad part was that when Circuit City was around, it was the more expensive of the two.
gerb131;996976 wrote:Not to mention the worst customer service.
THIS. When I was younger I learned that if I had questions to go to Circuit City (they had good help until they fired them all to replace with min. wage retards, leading to their demise), and then go buy it at Best Buy for less.

That was in my teens though, I've wised up to buying all of that shit online for years.
