As for what I think OSU will score? OSU wont want to run with Duke. Sully wont be able to play a game that will require him to run the whole game. DId you ever think that? Maybe Belmont was playing with players that like an uptempo game hence the score?
Look at the teams that play with big men.........Kansas 61 pts, Davidson 67, Tenn. 67, MSU 69.
I am no bandwagoner but you are an idiot. Read a book about basketball before questioning me.
birddog23;990784 wrote:Craft will get in foul trouble this game. The refs won't let him get away with bodying and hand-checking of the Duke guards. Sullinger will have a big game though.
Duke 74 OSU 71
birddog23;990819 wrote:Correct. As a Duke fan I am hoping it does get called. Craft is a great player and great defender(had the chance to play against him in HS) but he does seem to get away with a lot at times. It'll be interesting to see how this contest is called.

DeyDurkie5;991148 wrote:OSU is #3 in the country, and duke isn't in the top 5. why would you think duke will dominate/win especially being AT osu? I smell me a dumbass/homer
DeyDurkie5;991150 wrote:OSU is also better than duke. Duke is playing AT OSU, are you just retarded or a huge homer?

Of course I am not sure what birddog said to prompt this response...but homers need to look in the mirror.
As an afterthought...I might see this as an issue with OSU tomorrow night.
birddog23;991255 wrote:What point are you trying to make here? I simply stated that Duke is and has been one of the best 3 point shooting teams in the nation. Yeah I realize Duke is playing at OSU but last time I checked I believe their hoop is still 10 feet tall and their 3 point line is still 20 feet 9 inches. What is "homer" about that? I never said Duke will win by 15+ or anything like that.
Oh and your argument about Ohio State being a top 5 team and that Duke is not is simply stupid. At this point in the year rankings mean nothing, but even with the rankings in mind Duke is currently #3 in the AP poll.
As for Craft, more power to him if he can be physical with Duke's guards, I just don't think the refs will let him get away with some of it. Once again just my opinion.
birddog23;991286 wrote:I like Aaron Craft a lot, love the way he plays the game actually. Not many kids play with the enthusiasm and passion he does. I just feel that at times he will be more physical with guards and body them and at times hand-check. Both of which are fouls. Like I said more power to him. Duke gets away with it at times and often gets player control calls to go their way just because they have been doing it for so long. If my statements that I have made on this thread make me a "homer" then so be it.
birddog23;991362 wrote:Duke's bigs don't really like to be too physical down low. Sullinger will get his for sure. The Plumlee's, mainly Mason, need to avoid picking up stupid fouls and giving Sullinger and one's.
Big Gain;991510 wrote:Duke has three post players to throw at Sullinger. I HOPE K makes a mistake and has them get physical with Sullinger. Matta would be more than happy seeing Sullinger go to the line a dozen times, he makes 85% of his foul shots. The key will be William Buford. Duke doesn't have a good match up for him. He can't go 2 for 16 again. If he gets his 20 Ohio State wins.
reclegend22;991715 wrote:I'm not actually too worried about Duke's shooters in the so-called hostile Value City Arena environment. While I'm certain the Schott will be as loud as it has ever been with the Blue Devils coming to town -- Duke is the biggest draw in America wherever it plays -- Duke's players are used to having to operate in that type of frenzied and vitriol-fueled atmosphere. The Duke men's basketball team is arguably the most hated team in all of college sports in whatever arena it walks into. And that's partly because Duke's unthinkable success over the last three decades and partly because Duke's players, who are always the most targeted and despised in the sport, often rise to their best while on the road. Christian Laettner and J.J. Redick elevated the art of playing on the road to new levels. Like Reggie Miller, Duke players love being the enemy. They thrive on it. And truth be told, playing the villain is a lot of fun. I will thoroughly enjoy walking into the Schott tomorrow night lit up like a blue Christmas tree.
Some of Duke's best outside shooting performances of the last several years have come on the "road," in unfriendly and wildly raucous venues.
-9 of 20 threes in Greensboro against UNC, 2011 ACC championship (fans of the ACC know that Greensboro is Tar Heel town, and, when Duke plays there, it is Duke versus North Carolina and fans of the rest of the ACC)
-6 of 12 threes in Kansas City against Kansas State
-10 of 23 threes at Maryland, 2011
-13 of 29 threes at Miami, 2010
-9 of 18 threes at North Carolina, 2010
-8 of 19 threes Maryland, 2009
-12 of 25 threes at Florida State, 2009
-13 of 29 threes at North Carolina, 2008
-15 of 37 threes at Miami, 2008
Past performances certainly promise nothing, but Duke's players are rarely ever rattled by loud fans. They're used to it. The thing about this Duke team is that it not only has a legitimate three or four guys on the floor at all times that can hit the deep ball if someone else is struggling, but it also, unlike in the program's leaner years of '05 through '09, always has one or two crafty penetrators on the court in Rivers and Curry who can finish and get to the line or create scoring inside for Duke's bigs.
reclegend22;991720 wrote:As for Aaron Craft, he is a very good defender, but he's nowhere near the best anyone has ever seen at this level -- especially if you group in swing players. At Duke alone, Shane Battier, Grant Hill and Billy King were far superior in their positioning and instincts -- and Battier was a three-time national defender of the year. As for pure guards, there have been a multitude of incredibly gifted defenders over the years. Off the top of my head, I can think of Michael Flowers, Chris Paul, Chris Duhon, Aaron Miles, Juan Dixon, Steve Blake, Pepe Sanchez, Jacque Vaughn, Earl Boykins, Stacey Augmon, Gary Payton, Mookie Blaylock, among many others.
